In this luminous memoir, a true American icon looks back on his celebrated life and career. His body of work is arguably the most morally significant in cinematic history, and the power and influence of that work are indicative of the character of the man behind the many storied roles. Sidney Poitier here explores these elements of character and personal values to take his own measure: as a man, as a husband and a father, and as an actor.

"A Beautiful Sharing Of Life's Exeriences"
    Overall

This book shares life experiences with a careful, yet beautiful selection of words that never bores.
It keeps you eagerly listening to these words of wisdom learned through life's experiences, and now shared so eagerly, and unselfishly in an uncompromisingly hopeful need to enlighten us.
Truly, it's a beautiful sharing of life's experiences with the best, and most engaging narrative I've ever heard in this format.

It may be difficult to imagine a life-affirming book which begins with the main character, a 14-year-old girl, recounting her rape and murder, but Alice Sebold's debut novel is just such a book. Having received advance critical acclaim that before now was reserved only for literary giants, this book will no doubt invite comparisons to works such as Tracy Chevalier's The Girl with the Pearl Earring and Toni Morrison's Beloved.

    "A View Into The `otherworld?'"
    Overall

Not once do you forget that a young girl from `heaven' or `the otherworld' is sharing her former life/insights with you, and keeping you abreast of what she sees in this world with regards to those she chooses to visit.
It's very well written, with characters you follow easily and care about. I spent the entire day listening.. non-stop. Food-for-thought?

The "Big Three" are a trio of inmates locked up in the Minnesota Security Hospital over the years, each a particularly vicious serial killer, each with his own distinct style and propensities. Everybody feels much safer knowing that they're behind bars. Except...there's a new killer on the loose. And his handiwork bears a disturbing resemblance to some of the finer points practiced by the Big Three, details that never even made the papers.

"JohnSandford is an author I include as a favorite"
    Overall

I've never read a John Sandford book before; but, after listening to this my first, he's definitely included as one of my favorite suspenseful authors. It's filled with characters that you easily rmember, because the book is well-written, with a great plot. He gives you multiple suspects, and just as you think you know who the killer is... wham! Wrong! You easily follow the story-line, and the artist makes the listening easy on the ears and non-invasive.

Buddy's an aging movie star. Antwan's a rough-and-tumble loner. And Miss Betty, the show girl, is a princess. Different in nearly every way, they share one thing: they're all dogs...at heart.

I've always given my dog credit for being more intelligent than she lets on, and after thoroughly enjoying the insightful listening (A Coyote in the House)I'll continue respecting her intelligence. It's nice to believe dogs or cats choose to understand us; however, I can only hope that she doesn't long for the wild, or miss being a part of a pack. This is truly a humorous, delightful, witty, peep into our pets' psych, and it does not disappoint the listener. I guarantee you'll love it!
