New Year's Day is a time for new beginnings, but Minneapolis homicide detectives Sam Kovac and Nikki Liska are focused on endings: specifically, the tragic end of their latest murder victim, an unidentified young woman discovered on the side of the freeway. Believed to be the victim of a serial killer, Kovac and Liska are determined to do the girl the small justice of returning her body to her family as they investigate her case, but it is no simple task matching the broken corpse to any of the scores of missing persons reports.

I don't know why the author wasted her time writing this short, pointless, excuse for fictional mystery. It was boring, slow, uninteresting and put me to sleep. Don't waste your time. I have enjoyed a few of Tami Hoag's other offerings and they were great but this was not up to par.

I really enjoyed this book and I am hoping and looking for a sequel. It kind of leaves you hanging at the end like there is definitely more story to explore. The main character, Page, has just matured into her gift and it would be nice to explore the depth of her more as well as how the story continues in the struggle against the enemy. I liked the narration a lot and would like to hear more from her.

LAPD cop Scott James is not doing so well, not since a shocking nighttime assault by unidentified men killed his partner, Stephanie, nearly killed him, and left him enraged, ashamed, and ready to explode. He is unfit for duty - until he meets his new partner. Maggie is not doing so well, either. The German shepherd survived three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan sniffing explosives before she lost her handler to an IED and sniper attack, and her PTSD is as bad as Scott’s. They are each other’s last chance.

I loved the way this book pulled me in to it's otherworldly story. I enjoyed it a great deal and if you enjoy a story about keeping your humanity though all else is gone and the adventure and struggle that this book takes you to, then you will enjoy this too. The narrator was excellent as well.

Arlen Wagner has an awful gift: he can see death in the eyes of men before it strikes. He's never wrong. So when Arlen awakens on a train one hot Florida night and sees death's telltale sign in the eyes of his fellow passengers, he tries to warn them. Only 19-year-old Paul Brickhill believes him, and the two abandon the train, hoping to escape certain death. They continue south, but soon are stranded at The Cypress House - an isolated Gulf Coast boarding house run by the beautiful Rebecca Cady - directly in the path of an approaching hurricane.

    "impressive"
    Overall

I usually don't enjoy the sound of most male narrators and have passed on many a good book due to the way most male narrations grate on my ears.(To be fair, plenty of female narrators are just as irritating) This book, however, sucked me in from the very first word. This book is a symphony of indepth, rawly human, complex characters who are differentiated beautifully by Robert Petkoff. I thourougly, thuroughly enjoyed every word in this book. The "other-wordly" aspects of the story were earily believeable while the human condition was layed out for all to see and feel and experience right along with the characters. Thanks MIchael Koryta! This was my first Michael Koryta book but I k it

To most people, Fiona Bristow seems to have an idyllic life — a quaint house on an island off Seattle’s coast, a thriving dog-training school, and a challenging volunteer job performing canine search and rescue. Not to mention her three intensely loyal Labs. But Fiona got to this point by surviving a nightmare.

I have been a fan of Nora Roberts for several years and when I saw this newest book by her I was excited. However, I am definately dissapointed by this offering. The writing is terrible. The characters are shallowly developed and unrealistic and the story was boring unsubstantial . It is not even much of a mystery story. Instead, it was just stupid.
