What a nice wholesome story. Very easy listening. Kept my attention the whole book. Highly recommend as a heart warming, sweet story!
I adore Lena Dunham. I've heard her interviewed on some of my favorite podcasts, and find her so fascinating. I was really looking forward to her book, but I just couldn't finish it. I tried many times to turn it back on and give it another listen, it just didn't get any better. I didn't find her stories to be interesting or intellectual in any way. She's just a normal person telling mundain details that we all go through. There is a tone of "oh my life is so interesting, and I have all of these interesting little situations." Nope just a normal person. It's also not in a relatable way either. I don't feel like oh awesome that happened to her too. It's just boring life details. Id love to ask her editor why they allowed several chapters of calorie counting. Omg, why??
This book doesn't make me look at her differently or dislike her. I just think she is too young to write a bio. I think she is capable of writing in a much more intellectual manner.
I am still a fan and will continue to watch her show. But I will definitely not recommend this book.
I thought this was a good pick based on all the amazing reviews. I found myself powering through the bordem thinking it was going to get better. Boring characters, disappointing ending. Although, I suppose this is the reality of getting involved in these types of legal issues. Maybe I was hoping for something a little unrealistic. But even with that said, BORING!
Like many of you, I got pulled in by the, "it's the next Gone Girl" hype. Some similarities but it's definitely no Gone Girl. I couldn't stop talking about that book for a week after I finished it. The Silent Wife sets you up to think there are all sorts of twists and turns, but leaves you dead in your tracks. No big startling ending, and a lot of questions remain unanswered. What's up with the thrush? And where did her friend go? And oh so many more. That was frustrating.
I can't say I regret the use of credit. It kept my attention. The story telling was well done and I was never bored. But not on pins and needles (like I was hoping) either.
So really all I can say is, eh it was ok.
You'll show up with make up smeared all over your face. Its a tear jerker! Easy listening, sweet, but sad story.
I loved this book! and I am so glad she was the reader as well! I think so much of this book would have been lost on someone who read the paper version. So much detail and person touches to this! So honest and open! More people need to hear stories like this! I will definitely recommend!
I love his story telling ability, and his views on this crazy world! The book is great, I have recommended it along with this podcast to many! He's incredibly talented, and has a refreshing yet honest view of the world. I'm happy for all of his success, and wish his the best! Get this book!!!
My heart just breaks for her, her lost time, and ALL of her horrible experiences. I've always believed she was innocent. This book makes you realize just innocent she is. I definitely recommend!
Really great advice, and very motivating. It's definitely not a "I'm awesome, do like I did" kind of book. This book really makes you think about how we conduct ourselves at work, and gives guidance on how to make proper changes (or at least thinks to think about). As I began this book I was a point where I was being offered a promotion in position but not financially. I was questioning the option to take the position because although it is more demanding, and responsibility it is not more money. She mentioned in this book how sometimes we need to take these positions to learn new skills, and build our resumes. This really hit home and I took the position, and I am very excited to start! I appreciate all the lessons provided in this book. I have recommended it to several friends.
I don't know how to quite explain the wonderfulness of this book!! The narrator did a wonderful job. I found myself driving around longer so I didn't have to turn off the story. Highly highly recommend!
