There's nothing like a makeover story to get people hooked, and America is certainly addicted to the weight-loss saga of once celebrated actress Dona Papalardo. Savannah's no exception although she can't imagine wanting to shed her own hourglass figure by undergoing gastric bypass surgery like Dona did. After Dona's personal assistant is shot dead in the star's mile-long driveway, Savannah becomes her bodyguard. The victim was wearing one of Dona's fur coats, indicating that Dona was the target. And when Dona's hunky gardener takes a bullet between the eyes, Savannah and Detective Sergeant Dirk Coulter know they must act quickly.

I HAVE NEVER READ A G.A. MCKEVETT BOOK BEFORE, BUT I WAS GREATLY SURPRISED AT THE STORY LINE, AND INABILITY TO STOP THE STORY. ONCE I GET HOOKED, ALL ELSE STOPS TILL THE END. THIS IS A NEWLY RELEASED BOOK, SO NOW I HAVE TO GO BACK AND BUY THE WHOLE COLLECTION, WHICH PLEASES ME TO NO END. WHAT A WILD AND WACKY HEROINE OF A STORY, SHE IS ENDEARING AS YOU READ HER THOUGHT PROCESSES. A TRULY GOOD BOOK, AND ONE YOU WILL ALL ENJOY, I COME LATE TO THE PARTY BUT I WILL TRAVEL BACKWARDS IN TIME TO THE FIRST AND COME FORWARD. WHAT A TREAT AWAITS ME AS I JUDICIALLY PICK OUT THESE GREAT BOOKS.

Hayley Powell, food and cocktails columnist for Bar Harbor's Island Times, is...well, kind of broke. So when she's selected for that extreme coupon-clipping reality game show coming to town...she's thrilled, especially when her competition is nasty nurse Candace Culpepper. But when Haley stumbles across a face-down-in-the-snow Candace - scissors gleaming between her shoulders - she knows the next thing she'll be selected for will probably be a police line-up.

The town of Stoneham is a haven for bookstores, but it is sadly lacking in bed-and-breakfasts. Fortunately Pippa and Jon Comfort's Sheer Comfort Inn is about to open, and the couple has offered some locals a free night as a trial run. But it won't be so easy to sleep after Tricia makes two startling discoveries: Pippa's murdered body in the backyard, and the fact that Pippa's husband, Jon, is actually Harry Tyler, a man Tricia loved - and believed dead - for nearly 20 years. Though Harry is the prime suspect, Tricia doesn't believe him capable of murder, even though he's led a life of lies.

Murder creates havoc in this sleepy New England fishing village and Rose McNichols, reporter for the Granite Cove Gazette, is drawn into the case. Cook has written a well-developed mystery here. Her characters are believable. How can anyone go wrong setting something in a coastal New England town? It's a pleasant read, particularly for someone not looking for heavy social issues or lots of violence. ROSE, THE PROTAGONIST IS VERY FUNNY (MY KIND OF GIRL) WHO WILL STOP AT NOTHING TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS MYSTERY; WHILE THE POLICE TRY TO FRAME HER OLD CLASSMATE, FALLEN ON HARD TIMES.
    1. HAVE YOUR DICTIONARY HANDY OR GOOGLE SPELL DICTIONARY AS YOU WILL NEED IT. I KNOW MOST WORDS, NO ONE EVER SAYS EXCEPT IN BOOKS, BUT SHE CAUGHT ME WITH A FEW NEW ONES. 2. AUDIBLE PICKED THIS ONE OUT FOR ME IN THEIR HOME PAGE, A PROFILE OF MY LIKES. THEY DID A WONDERFUL JOB IN PROFILING ME, I REALLY LIKED THE BOOK AND WOULD NEVER HAVE FOUND HER AS SHE IS A NEW AUTHOR OR TAKEN THE CHANCE ON HER. AUDIBLE SAID I WOULD LIKE IT AND INDEED THEY WERE CORRECT. TO MY GREAT SURPRISE, I DID.
YOU SEE I HATE PROFILING, SOUNDS LIKE THE GOVERNMENT. TRUST YOUR PROFILES, THEY ARE ALMOST 100% DEAD ON.
