  • The Lost Mode of Prayer

    • ORIGINAL (2 hrs and 38 mins)
    • By Gregg Braden
    • Narrated By Gregg Braden

Is there a forgotten spiritual tool that offers each one of us the ability to heal ourselves, our relationship with others, and even our endangered planet? Yes, says Gregg Braden. On The Lost Mode of Prayer, Braden examines evidence from both modern science and ancient texts to shed light on a secret lost to humanity in the year 325.

    "The Lost Mode of Prayer"

This book can help lift the ceiling on our beliefs to achieve a more genuine connection with God through workable, sensible, honorable methods of prayer in the empowering way that was intended by the Ancients. Knowledge of the past can break the bonds of modern fear-based religious conditioning and dispel superstitions which encourage us to close our minds and refrain from questioning. The Lost Mode of Prayer provides a better understanding of our part in the process of prayer and can return both joy and responsibility to our relationship with the Divine. Gregg's endless enthusiasm, academic brilliance, spiritual wisdom, and utterly unpretentious manner make this an additionally delightful selection. Highly recommended.

  • Skin Game: A Novel of the Dresden Files, Book 15

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 49 mins)
    • By Jim Butcher
    • Narrated By James Marsters
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Harry Dresden, Chicago's only professional wizard, is about to have a very bad day.… Because as Winter Knight to the Queen of Air and Darkness, Harry never knows what the scheming Mab might want him to do. Usually, it’s something awful. He doesn’t know the half of it… Mab has just traded Harry’s skills to pay off one of her debts. And now he must help a group of supernatural villains - led by one of Harry’s most dreaded and despised enemies, Nicodemus Archleone - to break into the highest-security vault in town, so that they can then access the highest-security vault in the Nevernever.

D says: "Hold onto your staff; Harry’s back."
"Skin Game -- The Best Dresden Ever!"
Where does Skin Game rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Jim Butcher's Dresden Files is one of my top 10 series of all time. Rarely does any series delivery a better, more exciting story than the original with each new volume. Book 15, Skin Game, is by far the best of the series so far -- and that's saying something! I'm consistently surprised with Butcher's ability to imagine unique, dynamic, and interesting story lines, to lay them out beautifully, smoothly, believably, and at the end, tie all together in a manner that brings satisfaction and fulfillment to the reader. I hope he keeps writing Dresden forever!

What other book might you compare Skin Game to and why?

There are no comparisons that come to mind. This is a truly unique and dynamic series.

Which character – as performed by James Marsters – was your favorite?

My favorite character is, of course, Harry Dresden. I also love his vampire half-brother and the amazing chemistry between them. I have thoroughly enjoyed the evolution of Molly, Dresden's acolyte, and now the Winter Lady. And Bob the Skull -- well, the stories just wouldn't be the same without Bob.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and no. I didn't want to stop listening -- it was SOOOOO excellent. On the other hand, I knew I'd have to wait another year for the next installment, so wanted to savor the volume for as long as possible. It ended up taking two days -- and that was with a great deal of self-restraint.

    Any additional comments?

Butcher is an excellent author and I have enjoyed other of his works, but he truly shines brightest when channeling Harry Dresden more so than any of the other characters he's created. His imagination and creativity has brought a great deal of joy to his many readers. Thanks, Jim! Keep up the good work!

  • The Rift Walker: Vampire Empire, Book 2

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 35 mins)
    • By Clay Griffith, Susan Griffith
    • Narrated By James Marsters

Set in a postapocalyptic world, this tale of courage, sacrifice, and heroism takes place against the backdrop of an age of steam and rational humanism, where the social elite have rejected religion and spiritualism as nothing more than quaint superstition. Brutal Vampire Clans rule half the world, keeping human herds for food, and Princess Adele, heir to the throne of Equatoria, is faced with grim choices. War is imminent and her marriage to the odious Senator Clark of America will cement an alliance uniting the Equatorian Empire and the American Republic.

    "Great Series!"
Would you consider the audio edition of The Rift Walker to be better than the print version?

This is a great series. Not the same old vampire story -- fresh, original, enticing mythology -- with a fabulous narrator, James Marsters! I can't wait for book 3!

  • Anansi Boys

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 8 mins)
    • By Neil Gaiman
    • Narrated By Lenny Henry
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Returning to the territory he so brilliantly explored in his masterful New York Times best seller American Gods, the incomparable Neil Gaiman offers up a work of dazzling ingenuity, a kaleidoscopic journey deep into myth that is at once startling, terrifying, exhilarating, and fiercely funny, a true wonder of a novel that confirms Stephen King's glowing assessment of the author as "a treasure house of story, and we are lucky to have him."

    A. Hawley says: "Beautifully narrated"
    "Anansi Boys"

Anansi Boys was fabulous! Neil Gaiman is a masterful storyteller with imagination and understanding of the supernatural world usually reserved for the oral traditions of indigenous peoples who pass down their tales through generations. I was inspired! Thank you, Neil!

This book is full of awesome good sense, presented in a way that directs the reader's focus to taking one sensible step at a time to reach their goals. Re-minds us of common sense strategies that aren't so common. Excellent read!
