Overpopulation? Plague? Terrorism? Art History? What's not to love in this novel. Dan Brown is brilliant in his appreciation of art and his ability to draw the reader into a thriller in such a unique manner.
Overpopulation is most definitely a serious issue with no real solutions. It is interesting to me that our world is so entrenched in denial when it comes to the longterm existence of our own species. All one has to do is look around us to see animals going extinct due to a loss of habitat. We too have a finite habitat. Why do we refuse to see the consequences of our own birth rates and longevity?
This book really made me think - I loved it.
This series is just fantastic. There are many layers to Hogan's characters and that's what makes them feel so real. The narrator was outstanding. If you are looking for a series packed full of magic, intrigue, action and deception, this is for you! Another winner! Thanks audible!
The Marco Effect is another superb story from Department Q. I love the guys that work this department. They are so ordinary but yet so interesting I just can't wait to hear what they are investigating next.
This is a terrific detective story with excellent narration. The whole series is excellent if you are a fan of this genre. It is smart and fun.
Another win! Thanks audible!
Ken Follett has knocked this one out of the park! I loved this book for so many reasons. The characters, the stories, the narration.....everything. If you have followed this trilogy you will love this instalment. If you haven't explored this series or this author and historical fiction interests you, this is a must read!!
Big win!! Thanks audible!!
I have tried twice to listen to this book but I just can't do it. Joanne Harris is one of my favourite authors with the Chocolat series but this story doesn't interest me at all. It has plenty of intrigue and the characters are fleshed out well but it is the general theme that I just don't like. I feel like this story has been told a million times and I am sick of it.
I was looking for an author similar to Maeve Binchy when I came across this book. Although no where close to the caliber of Maeve (in my opinion) it was a nice read. If you want something entertaining but aren't looking for anything deep, this is a good listen. The characters are fun and relatable and although the story was kinda fluffy, the narration was excellent.
This book was an enjoyable listen for sure. Simon Vance is one of my favourite narrators so I was happy with the telling of the story. I felt like I was on an adventure when I was listening so it was a nice surprise to find this series.
Thanks for the recommendation Audible!
I don't know if I'd have continued listening to the end of this novel had it not been narrated so well. The story was good but not at all what I was expecting I suppose. I have another title in my library from this author so I haven't given up on him. This story just didn't do it for me.
This was a fantastic book. The story was nail-biting and frustrating and made me want to jump in and help the characters. I had a hard time turning off my earphones during this one.
This was a detective story with some depth. If only there was a third book in the series - in English!!
It's a win for me! Thanks Audible!!
This book is one I am not certain of so writing a review is difficult. It may be that I don't really know if I cared for the lead detective and some of her conclusions seemed like a leap to me.
The story itself was good enough but I am also unsure of this particular narrator.
This review is so vague but so are my feelings about this book.
If you've ever experienced small town living you can appreciate the idea of everyone knowing everybody's business. There are no secrets...or are there?
I really liked the characters in this book. They made me feel something and I love that about this story.
The narrator was excellent. Another win!
