Gentle by name, gentle by nature. Everyone in the sleepy Scottish town of Lochdubh adores elderly Mrs. Gentle - everyone but Hamish Macbeth, that is. Hamish thinks the gentle lady is quite sly and vicious, and the citizens of Lochdubh think he is overly cranky. Perhaps it's time for him to get married, they say. But who has time for marriage when there's a murder to be solved? When Mrs. Gentle dies under mysterious circumstances, the town is shocked and outraged.

The Macbeth adventures are always fun to read - but somehow, this one dragged. It seemed to go on for a tad too long. Still, if you're a Hamish fan, you won't want to miss it.

Sherlock Holmes is the greatest detective in literary history. For the first time since the death of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a new Holmes story has been sanctioned by his estate, whetting the appetites of fans everywhere. Information about the book will be revealed as deliberately as Holmes himself would unravel a knotty case, but bestselling novelist and Holmes expert Anthony Horowitz is sure to bring a compelling, atmospheric story to life.

For fans of Sherlock Holmes, this is a must. There are many twists and turns to the plot, keeping the reader's interest. Even though it isn't by Arthur Conan Doyle, it seems right in line with the Holmes tradition.

When a cop's body is found burned and decapitated, the last thing Andy Carpenter expected is for a stranger to waltz into his office and admit to the crime. For the wise-cracking millionaire defense attorney suffering from "lawyer's block", the case looks like a no-brainer...until the cops pick up another suspect: Andy's lead P.I., Laurie Collins, who happens to be the love of his life.

This series has the great combination of suspense and humor, plus it features a dog! David Rosenfelt's work is much more enjoyable to listen to than to read hard-copy; the humor comes across better - especially because of the skill of the narrator.

This is a great choice for dog loving fans of who-done-its!
