  • The Creature from Jekyll Island: A Second Look at the Federal Reserve

    • UNABRIDGED (24 hrs and 21 mins)
    • By G. Edward Griffin
    • Narrated By Mark Bramhall

This classic expose of the Fed has become one of the best-selling books in its category of all time. Where does money come from? Where does it go? Who makes it? The money magician's secrets are unveiled. Here is a close look at their mirrors and smoke machines, the pulleys, cogs, and wheels that create the grand illusion called money. A boring subject? Just wait. You'll be hooked in five minutes. It reads like a detective story - which it really is, but it's all true.

Charyn says: "Prepare to be amazed"
"Do you really know what your Politians are doing?"
    Any additional comments?

If you want to get an idea where this country is headed, you've got to listen to this. So many puzzle pieces about the political big hitters and policies just fall right into place.. This is not aimed at a particular political party.

I'm only half way through, and am planning a 2nd listen so I can understand more of the intricacies of the monetary world.

Please inform yourself in the name of humanity.

  • The Camel Club

    • UNABRIDGED (16 hrs and 10 mins)
    • By David Baldacci
    • Narrated By Jonathan Davis

It exists at the fringes of Washington, D.C., has no power, and consists solely of four eccentric and downtrodden members whom society has forgotten. Their simple goal is to find the "truth" behind their country's actions.

Alex says: "The Good, Bad, and the So-So"
"If I thought America was the root of all evil"

I would really like this book. I thought it was fairly well done, but my problem is that I really like this country and do not believe the Muslim extremists are all fluffy good and we are the big bad wolf. Too bad the author lets his political views blast through like he did in this book. It made for a tough listen at times.

  • The Horse Boy: A Father's Quest to Heal His Son

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 35 mins)
    • By Rupert Isaacson
    • Narrated By Rupert Isaacson
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When his son Rowan was diagnosed with autism, Rupert Isaacson was devastated, afraid he might never be able to communicate with his child. But when Isaacson, a lifelong horseman, rode their neighbor's horse with Rowan, Rowan improved immeasurably. He was struck with a crazy idea: why not take Rowan to Mongolia the one place in the world where horses and shamanic healing intersected?

    Linda says: "Magical"

Being a pragmatic business person, I don't really know why I picked this one out, but it will be part of me for the rest of my life. The love, the journey and the rewards are written and spoken in such a way that tears at the heart.

The parents and their love for their son is something to be cherished. Life lessons for us all. Excellent listen.

  • The Pillars of the Earth

    • UNABRIDGED (40 hrs and 54 mins)
    • By Ken Follett
    • Narrated By John Lee
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Why we think it’s a great listen: Got 40 hours to kill? You’ll find the time when you start listening to Lee’s take on Follett’s epic – and widely celebrated – novel of 12th-century England. The Pillars of the Earth tells the story of Philip, prior of Kingsbridge, a devout and resourceful monk driven to build the greatest Gothic cathedral the world has known...of Tom, the mason who becomes his architect - a man divided in his soul...and of the beautiful, elusive Lady Aliena, haunted by a secret shame....

    CynNC says: "Captivating"
"The author actually made me cheer for the Hero"

I would have never thought a novel about a monk and a church could be so engaging. I usually prefer action and adventure or even science fiction, but this one puts you in the book as a bystander. Very compelling writer. I think no matter who you are, you will love this!

  • Angels and Demons

    • UNABRIDGED (18 hrs and 33 mins)
    • By Dan Brown
    • Narrated By Richard Poe
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

World-renowned Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned to a Swiss research facility to analyze a cryptic symbol seared into the chest of a murdered physicist. What he discovers is unimaginable: a deadly vendetta against the Catholic Church by a centuries-old underground organization, the Illuminati. Desperate to save the Vatican from a powerful time bomb, Langdon joins forces in Rome with the beautiful and mysterious scientist Vittoria Vetra.

Phillip says: "I couldn't put it down...5 STARS"
    "The worst of the worst"

I was expecting something like Da Vinci Code, but I wasn't expecting the same plot and characters with different names. Written while watching television, I think. I can listen to just about anything, but could not finish this one.
