I enjoyed this version very much. The narrative is clear and understandable. Of course, the story is a classic story of legalism vs Christian Grace.
This devotional book is absolutely wonderful--a daily meditation accompanied by several Bible verses to connect the devotional. How disappointed I was that the audio devotional does not include the reading of the scripture verses. I try to read "Jesus Calling" every morning while I sit at my makeup table. Especially days that I work or have early morning commitments, I hoped to be able to listen to the narrated meditation INCLUDING the scripture verses. I guess it is more important for me to read and meditate instead.
I appreciate listening to the scriptures while I drive in my car or sit in my house. It is God's Word, the greatest book ever written. The reader is easy to listen to.
While the story was thrilling, it was unfortunate that Mr. King writes with such vulgarity. At the onset of the use of the F word, I was shocked at hearing it spoken from my Kindle and grateful that my grandson, son and husband were not within hearing distance. It spite of his dramatic reading and his variance of character voices, Mr. Wasson's performance was ruined and trashy because of the use of so much foul language. I even contacted Amazon to find out if there was a downloadable app to remove such language from being spoken...so much for parental controls; there is none. Someone might get rich by developing one such app.
Mysterious, exciting, and tasteful
The subject is contemporary and development of the plot is intricate.
Proper inflection and voice tone accomplished true interpretation as the writer intended.
Frank Peretti has a way of developing a story line that is fascinating and supernatural, but he always brings in spiritual truth!! Thank you Mr. Peretti for a book that is exciting, mysterious, and tastefully written without language that one is embarrassed to hear come out of the Kindle!!
Because of the nature of this non-fiction category, I believe if is better to have the hard copy for highlighting and ease in finding and remembering significant facts and descriptions in the material.
My grandson (age 3 1/2) loves to listen to my Kindle. He loves Yertle and other Dr. Seuss stories and will listen over and over again.
