I only listened to about a quarter of the book and just couldn't take it anymore! The story is stupid and the characters are weak and have too many issues. Spare me!

I bought this book during one of Audible's sales, and it was such a waste of money and time. I have listened to Sheryl Wood's books before and it wasn't bad: they're not my favourite, but nice "in between books". I'm not sure if it was the narrator or if this was just not a good book, but i will definitely not be getting the rest of the series, nor will i ever get a book with Christina Traister as narrator - she didn't express the right emotions, and her accents were terrible. I might give Sheryl Woods another go if the reviews are good.
You do like the main male character, Trace, as he is genuinely sooo in love with Abby and it is so endearing, but Abby seems so stuck-up and there's hardly a scene where she expresses her emotions or thoughts. Not a great love story.

I can't WAIT to listen to the third book! The first and, even more so, the second book is a gripping fantasy romance. SO worth it! Am curious to see how Nora's creativity will let Zoey find the key, and can't wait for the romance to unfold with Brad.

I enjoy books that are so long as it gives me time to really get to know the characters and you "live" them for a while. The story was excellent and once you make peace with the fact that not all the accents are accurate, the narrator is also pretty good. Well worth the credit!

I didn't like the male character in this book at all... the whole story is just weird. Didn't even finish the book. It seems like he "forces" himself on her during the love scenes which is very off-putting.

As the mysterious leader of the Bastion Club, known as “Dalziel,” Royce Varisey, tenth Duke of Wolverstone, served his country for decades, facing dangers untold. But as the holder of one of England’s most august noble titles, he must now take on the gravest duty of all: marriage. Yet the young ladies the grande dames would have him consider are predictably boring. Far more tempting is his castle’s willful and determinedly aloof chatelaine, Minerva Chesterton. Beneath her serene façade lies a woman of smoldering sensuality, one who will fill his days with comfort....

The narrator made the 37yr old Duke sound like a 70-yr old which really spoilt the book for me. The story itself was ok - I do enjoy Stephanie Laurens' books in general.
