For outdoorsman and documentary filmmaker Patrick Gallagher, Lawton, Vermont, is a fresh start...and a last chance. For beautiful, haunted local policewoman Andie Nightingale, it is a refuge and a prison. But for them both - and for every living resident of the sleepy New England hamlet - it is about to become Hell on Earth. Gallagher discovers the first corpse while fishing: a large man, tortured, ravaged, and mutilated; an unspeakable horror despoiling a pristine natural landscape

I don't usually write reviews but I was very taken with this story. I would recomend it to anyone who can believe the heart and body can heal from painful and tragic things that
have happened to them. Good story.

Devastated by the discovery that his wife, Helen, was murdered, Special Agent Pendergast must have retribution. But revenge is not simple. As he stalks his wife's betrayers-a chase that takes him from the wild moors of Scotland to the bustling streets of New York City and the darkest bayous of Louisiana - he is also forced to dig further into Helen's past. And he is stunned to learn that Helen may have been a collaborator in her own murder.

I bought me first Pendergast story a few months ago and I can not get enough. The books just keep me listening to the end and wanting the next one. I am waiting for the next Helen installment. Keep writing guys.
