Yes. With the audio version, I can create a better picture of the characters and hear the characters/situations/emotions, etc. as they was meant to be by J.M. Ward. I also love the portability factor of audio books.
Asheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Everything is laid out for you in rich detail and the story follows its own lead rather than a formula. The flashbacks were great. This is a large book but does not get tiresome.
Love, Love, Love Jim Frangione. The best part is that he's done the whole series and the character voices are consistent throughout. He also has the most sexy, husky voice. He doesn't make the women characters sound stupid/forced. Just a good quality narrator.
J.M. Ward's books tend to have a sarcastic feel to them and I love that type of humor and get a kick out of some character exchanges. No urges to cry, but many feelings about developing relationships and situations. Of course, it is always a good feeling to get lost in a good book.
This series is fabulous and J.M. Ward continues to produce quality additions to it. Some series fizzle out eventually, but it doesn't look like that is the case with the Black Dagger Brotherhood.
The book is emotional and has a bit of mystery. The relationships are complex. There are many surprises. The dust settles and everyone is still alive, in love and doing the right thing. Well, there is some excitement in between.
Life seems to slow down for many characters and lessons are learned. It becomes Jessi and Ava against the world instead of Ava vs. Jessi. The whole truth about Jessi's past finally comes out and many of his behaviors are explained. If he'd only said so in the first place...silly man.
When Ava sent Coral packing. When Jessi and Ava write all over his "Ava wall"...and more...don't want to be a spoiler.
"S'all good girl."
This book is part of a trilogy and is much better if you read "This Man" and "Beneath This Man" first or some of this book won't make sense. Both characters are difficult people but they love each other...however, trust is another issue.
Yes. I have listened to the whole series more than once. It is so entertaining and the characters are so fun! Charlie Davidson is my hero. Think I'm in love with Reyes with Swopes as the runner up. Angel is a typical teen, Artamis is fun, Cookie works so well with Charlie, and the list goes on!
I can't....never read anything like this series. This is a contemporary, fantasy, romance, mystery, comedy and more.
I FEEL BAD FOR PEOPLE WHO READ THE BOOK VERSION BECAUSE LORELEI KING BRINGS EVERYTHING TO LIFE! Seriously, Charlie's character would not be as endearing and fun if you don't have the full inflection of her quirky thoughts and sarcasm.
"I'm in love with the son of the devil and don't have any regrets...he'll do the right thing...eventually. Being with him may destroy the universe, or give satan a free pass to this world, but I totally got this."
If you have not read this series, you need to-from 1st Grave on the Right all the way through to this one. The books are fun and VERY entertaining, upbeat and sarcastic, but the subject matter makes for a great mystery aspect. The main character is a strong female who is such a good person, but she is embroiled in the most dangerous people/creatures. I can't say enough about this series. TOTALLY WORTH IT !!
I haven't. This book would have been perfect if it was twice as long and full of in depth details.
Not sure. I was left feeling like I had half of a meal when it was done. This has so much potential but was left hanging. No true character definition, no in depth emotions or background....
Yes. It is a "page turner" and hard to put down. The story is eventful and unpredictable. It is an emotional roller coaster and totally entertaining.
Sam. He's a breath of fresh air who is involved in the same things as Jessi, but is honest and fun-loving which works well for him. He's a supportive friend.
Did not have one, but loved it when Jessi was busted in his office. You think he'd learn.
My main reaction was Jessi needs to be without a significant other. Ava's need to run away and deny reality as well as her avoidance tendencies drove me bonkers. Also, Jessi being totally full of crap tugged at my emotions in different ways. All irritations aside, I did root for them throughout the book.
If you likes the Crossfire series or 50 Shades series, you will like this. It is a bit different, but the concept is similar.
Yes, I plan to in case I missed anything. This story is real and not watered down or filtered. Real people, real problems without apology. I can't remember the last time I read a book this good.
Ripper and Cox. Young and full of enthusiasm for the club life (and all of its offerings) in an atmosphere of older, worn down and cynical club members. That and their "relationship" with Cami.
I can't choose a favorite scene, but do recall many memorable scenes. Most of which have to do with Duece and his more inconsiderate/callous moments.
Some things in the book were a bit shocking, but overall it was just reality. This is not a "male hero" and "damsel in distress" type of book. It is raw and refreshing. I did feel like Mia should just rid herself of all males in her life, but then she picks up and moves on.
This is a book with many emotional facets and it does not romanticize the motorcycle club lifestyle. This is a great read for those who enjoy real stories about real people, real choices, and real consequences. This book is totally worth it.
Yes. It is entertaining, enjoyable, pulls on your emotions, and isn't a formula plot.
How dabilatated Christopher is by his mental and behavioral problems. The descriptions of his ordeal are pretty accurate. Loved how Christopher was determined to have his needs met no matter what. He's a sweet, arrogant, obnoxious guy in love but doesn't know it.
Not one in particular, but Christopher was entertaining.
Beauty and the beast.
Good story. Christopher's personality and mentality is awesome. The women are not hand-wringing, simpering little girls awed by fame.
Anticipation, disappointment and salvation. Two damaged people from different worlds fall in love, but not easily or prettily.
Zeke. He makes bad decisions and can be a serious ass, but he is still learning what feelings are, while working his way out of the trailer park and avoiding the pitfalls that he doesn't even know are there (drugs, alcohol, violence, bad women). When he fell in love he was all in, and when he figured out what life is about he chose to live it properly.
Loved 2 narrators. It made the story more realistic and enjoyable. I loved how Megan was portrayed.
People can surprise you.
This book has more to it than you think and is worth your time and credit. Very engrossing and entertaining.
Charlie Davidson's humor and flippant attitude and there is lots of Reyes, and the storyline was great...as usual.
Reyes. I think I'm in love. He is so loving and sexy, but a cold and ruthless at the same time. You never really know if he is acting in Charlie's best interest.
Charlie. She is fun, strong and does her own thing. She is not sitting at home waiting for a call from Reyes or following him around. Her feeling she is not worthy of love makes her endearing.
When Reyes kisses Cookie in front of all the women in the bar and later makes it clear that he is Charlie's man. Also when Swopes does the big reveal.
These books are so much fun. I can't wait for the next one.
SENSITIVE guy who can't get a break. It is a miracle he does not have a psychotic break. Styxx ENDURING much heartache and still endures. He is STOIC in his refusal to share his abuse and/or loss.
The other side of Asheron. If you have read Asheron, this book will be familiar and surprise you at the same time. The format is the same, going from 900's B.C. to modern day.
Bethany's Egyptian family. They are always looking to start a fight and/or remove body parts. And they love Bethany to distraction.
This is one of the best Dark Hunter books by far. It was eye-opening to see Styxx's side of the story, which happens to be even worse than Asheron's. It's great that Styxx uses humor and sarcasm to get through tough situations.
