After being kicked out of the Order of the Knights of Merciful Aid, Andrea's whole existence is in shambles. She tries to put herself back together by working for Cutting Edge, a small investigative firm owned by her best friend. When several shapeshifters working for Raphael Medrano-the male alpha of the Clan Bouda, and Andrea's former lover-die unexpectedly at a dig site, Andrea is assigned to investigate.

Gunmetal Magic is a fun journey. Andrea Nash is hired to investigate some pack deaths. To investigate the murders, Nash must interact with Raphael. Some of the truly great characters in this series such as Barabas, Roman, and Aunt B also return. If you like other books by these writers, you will like this book, but I do not suggest starting the series with this book. You should read the Kate Daniel's series first to get full enjoyment out of this book. Renée Raudman is still great.

I don't publicly advertise that I'm a mage, but I don't exactly hide it either, and one of the odd things I've learnt over the years is just how much you can get away with if you're blatant enough. Hide something behind smoke and mirrors and make people work to find it, and they'll tear the place down looking for what's there. Alex Verus is a diviner who can see probable futures-a talent that's gotten him out of many a tough scrape. But this time, he may be in over his head. Alex was once apprenticed to a Dark mage, and in his service he did a lot of things he isn't proud of.

Great character additions to the series. There were too many rude exterior, heart of gold types. The series follows a diviner and his apprentice through various adventures. Give this series a try. You will enjoy it.

With his talent for divining the future, Alex Verus should have foreseen his friends' reactions to the revelations about his previous life. Anne Walker no longer trusts him-and has also cut all ties with the mage community after getting kicked out of the apprentice program. As a favor to Luna, Alex's own apprentice and Anne's best friend, he checks in on her only to be told to leave her alone. Then Anne gets kidnapped.

It took me a long time to pick up the first book in this series and read it. The premise always seemed boring to me, but it is not. Jacka has created a really fun urban fantasy series. The series follows a diviner and his apprentice through various adventures. The protagonist is a moderate talent of one very specialized skill, and his intelligence keeps him alive. This is a book in which the reader is not just told the protagonist is intelligence and expected to accept it as a truly predictable story unfolds. The protagonist does demonstrate intelligence through his creativity. Give this series a try. You will enjoy it.

This time last year, I could go weeks without seeing another mage. In mage society I was an unknown and, all in all, that was how I liked it. It’s hard to say what changed. Whatever it was, I got involved in the magical world again and started getting myself a reputation.

Jacka has created a really fun urban fantasy series which stands up to a good binge. Even after listening to three books in a row, I still enjoy Jacka's world. Jacka has created a really fun urban fantasy series. The series follows a diviner and his apprentice through various adventures. The really appealing element of this series is the protagonist is not all powerful or really even powerful. He is a moderate talent of one very specialized skill, and his intelligence keeps him out of trouble. Give this series a try. You will enjoy it.

Alex Verus is part of a world hidden in plain sight, running a magic shop in London. And while Alex's own powers aren't as showy as some mages, he does have the advantage of foreseeing the possible future-allowing him to pull off operations that have a million-to-one-chance of success. But when Alex is approached by multiple factions to crack open a relic from a long-ago mage war, he knows that whatever's inside must be beyond powerful.

As dusk approaches a small Dublin suburb in the summer of 1984, mothers begin to call their children home. But on this warm evening, three children do not return from the dark and silent woods. When the police arrive, they find only one of the children, unable to recall a single detail of the previous hours.

Twenty years later, the found boy, Rob Ryan, is a detective on the Dublin Murder Squad and keeps his past a secret. But when a 12-year-old girl is found murdered in the same woods, he and Detective Cassie Maddox find themselves investigating a case chillingly similar to the previous unsolved mystery.

This book is a raw, emotional, human journey through a dark point in life set in a crime novel. I don't know what to tell you besides this is a tough read/listen. It is full of intimate personal connections, mistakes, misunderstandings, and more. This is absolutely not the book I thought it was going to be, but in this case, that was a good thing.

Sophronia continues her second year at finishing school in style - with a steel-bladed fan secreted in the folds of her ball gown, of course. Such a fashionable choice of weapon comes in handy when Sophronia, her best friend Dimity, sweet sootie Soap, and the charming Lord Felix Mersey stowaway on a train to return their classmate Sidheag to her werewolf pack in Scotland. No one suspected what - or who - they would find aboard that suspiciously empty train.

Gail Carriger does it again. She has written another fantastic book creating another mandatory binge listening situation. Worth it every time. I also always find it hard to decide what my next book will be after I finish a book by Carriger, because what I really want to read is another book by Carriger.

Quentin and his friends are now the kings and queens of Fillory, but the days and nights of royal luxury are starting to pall. After a morning hunt takes a sinister turn, Quentin and his old friend Julia charter a magical sailing ship and set out on an errand to the wild outer reaches of their kingdom. Quentin Coldwater is brilliant but miserable. A senior in high school, he's still secretly preoccupied with a series of fantasy novels he read as a child, set in a magical land called Fillory. Imagine his surprise when he finds himself unexpectedly admitted to a very secret, very exclusive college of magic in upstate New York, where he receives a thorough and rigorous education in the craft of modern sorcery.

I am struggling a lot with a review for this book. I wanted this book to be great, but it isn't. The plot is essentially Harry Potter's world meets The Chronicles of Narnia with a touch of the NeverEnding Story. There isn't a lot new here. While I listened, I kept hoping for a twist in the worlds created by other authors, but there wasn't one. I wouldn't recommend this book to others, but I am currently listening to Book 2 in the hopes that the series novelty/hook will be delivered in the second installment of this series.

In The Witch with No Name, Kim Harrison brings back her wildly popular heroine for one final, epic battle. Rachel Morgan's come a long way from the klutzy runner fleeing a bad job. She's faced vampires and werewolves, banshees, witches, and soul-eating demons. She's crossed worlds, channeled gods, and accepted her place as a day-walking demon.
