Hostile in ways that a surface-dweller could never know, the tunnel-mazes of the Underdark challenge all who tread there. Among these souls are Drizzt Do'Urden and his magical cat, Guenhwyvar. Exiled from his drow homeland, Drizzt must fight for a new home in the boundless labyrinth. Meanwhile, he must watch for signs of pursuit - for the dark elves are not a forgiving race.

This is book 2 of the story of Drizzt, and it did not disappoint me. R A Salvatore writes so much detail into his stories that I can believe I am actually there, watching. Victor Bevine brings the characters to life, and the action is non-stop. Magic flies almost as much as arrows!

I enjoyed this story. Lots of magic and action. Harry has too many guilt trips for me, though, and I could choke Murphy for always wanting to arrest everyone and drag them downtown behind bars for questioning. James Marsters does a good job of narration, but his quick inhalations hurt my ears sometimes. Still, I now own the next three audiobooks in this series, and I am looking forward to listening to them.

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

I really enjoyed listening to this story. It has a lot of awesome action, lots of the ancient gods come to life, and the dog kept me in stitches!!! I want another sausage, after that!!! I just downloaded the next two books in the series, and I am looking forward to many more hours of excellent entertainment. Luke Daniels did a great job of narration, too.

For the first time - in one Audible-exclusive collection - it's 13 stories of Jane Yellowrock, the shape-shifting skinwalker and vampire hunter for hire whose business card reads, "Have Stakes - Will Travel". Jane carries inside her the soul of her Beast, the mountain lion's soul which merged with hers when she accidently performed black magic as a child. Now, she and her Beast stalk the dark streets of New Orleans, bringing rogue vampires true death.

I so very much enjoyed listening to these stories. Many of them have been hinted of in other full-length stories, but some of them were little surprise side trips. All of them were awesome. And I loved hearing Faith Hunter's actual voice for the first time. And I would add my thanks to Khristine Hvam for bringing Jane, Bruiser, Leo, and all of the other characters to life.

I enjoyed the Icewind Dale Trilogy, a story of the earliest days of Drizzt's existence above ground. I enjoyed watching the Companions develop their relationships. The story is fast paced, plenty of action. Victor Bevine did a good job of narrating.

    Story

I have just fallen in love with Drizzt. He is such an excellent character. There are so many books about Drizzt that it took me a while to find the beginning of the series; however, this is it. You have reached the beginning story. I especially love Drizzt's commentaries on life. Pretty sensitive, for a Drow! lol

If you are looking for a good fantasy series, with Elves, Dwarves, Humans, and all kinds of fantasy creatures, all wielding Magic, and with lots of action, you just can't go wrong with this series. It is the Motherlode. R A Salvatore has created so many excellent books about Drizzt and his companions that it is like an banquet. Victor Bevine does an excellent job of narrating, too. He brings the characters to life for me.

For a vampire killer like Jane, having Leo Pellisier as a boss took some getting used to. But now, someone is out to take his place as Master Vampire of the city of New Orleans, and is not afraid to go through Jane to do it. After an attack that’s tantamount to a war declaration, Leo knows his rival is both powerful and vicious, but Leo’s not about to run scared. After all, he has Jane. But then, a plague strikes, one that takes down vampires and makes their masters easy prey.

    Story

I felt that this was a dark story. It seemed that everything fell apart for Jane towards the end, and the ending left me with my mouth hanging open, saying "NO!! This can't be!" I was so grateful that a couple of weeks after listening to this book, the next book in the series came out, and I quickly downloaded it. Thank goodness, things worked themselves out in the next story! lol

Upon listening to the story for the second time, things made more sense, and didn't seem quite so dark. I enjoyed the story greatly the second time, and Khristine just does an awesome job of narration. Her portrayal of Beast is my favorite part of the story. Faith did a great job of weaving an intricate plot.

When the world was young, and its name was Faerie, the power of magic ruled - and the Elfstones warded the race of Elves and their lands, keeping evil at bay. But when an Elven girl fell hopelessly in love with a Darkling boy of the Void, he carried away more than her heart. Thousands of years later, tumultuous times are upon the world now known as the Four Lands. Users of magic are in conflict with proponents of science. Elves have distanced their society from the other races. The Druid order is threatened.

    Story

I was slightly disappointed with this book. I love Terry Brooks' work; however, this one seemed to me to be really slow and lacking some of the storyline detail and finesse I have come to expect from Terry's work. It just seems a little too simplistic and predictable. I will reserve judgment of the overall story until I listen to part two. Also, although Rosalyn did a good job, it was difficult at times to tell the characters apart.

Yet another awesome book by Faith Hunter. I just love Jane Yellow Rock! This one was a very interesting study of the Were beings, especially Were Cats and Were Wolves - and, of course, the Vamps. Action packed (as always) with a great story line, and a very interesting twist at the end. I just love Khristine Hvam's interpretation of this story. Her saucy 'tude just makes this series, for me.

Fans of the Shannara epic will revel as the forces of good battle an evil book, the Ildatch, which sends the Mord Wraiths to destroy mankind. To overcome this dark force, the Druid Allanon needs Brin Ohmsford, for she holds the power of the wishsong, a magic invoked by singing that can make plants bloom instantly or turn trees from green to autumn gold.

I just finished listening to the third book of the Shannara series, and I was so sorry to come to the end. Terry Brooks did a fantastic job in creating this world and the characters in it. With the help of Scott Brick's eloquent talents, the stories unfolded in my mind like a movie. The action was great and the story moved along well, though told in great detail.
