What did you like best about Fatal Affair? What did you like least?

The characters were good. The murder mystery had good twists and turns. There was plenty of story and it wasn't overtaken by romance.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Fatal Affair?

The bomb and who did it.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Felicity Munroe?

I wouldn't seek her out but I wouldn't avoid a book because she narrated. She did well differentiating the voices.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yes. It had twists and turns.

Best-selling author of Hot Blooded Lisa Jackson reunites detectives Rick Bentz and Reuben Montoya in this gripping psychological thriller. What would have made Cold Blooded better?

It was pretty predictable and seemed much like the first book. It was inundated with Catholic religion, suffocating.

Has Cold Blooded turned you off from other books in this genre?

Not the genre but, I don't think I will try another of her books.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Alyssa Bresnahan?

    Jennifer Ikeda, Tavia Gilbert

What character would you cut from Cold Blooded?

There is no one character that would help the book if they were cut.

    Any additional comments?

I gave it two stars because I finished it.

Ryder Sherbrooke is a fun-loving rake with a secret. When he travels to Jamaica to solve the mystery of the supernatural goings-on at the Sherbrooke sugar plantation, he finds another mystery as well - a sophisticated 19-year-old girl, Sophia Stanton-Greville, who wants to bed him. And not, he believes, because she is simply enthralled with his handsome self or his boundless charm.

Would you try another book from Catherine Coulter and/or Anne Flosnik?

I would try another Catherine Coulter because I have read a couple that were good. This was not. The whole thing was about using a ghost to have sex with men so the main character wouldn't have to, convoluted too. Her rescuer, prince charming tricks her into marriage and repeatedly forces her to have sex.

Has The Hellion Bride turned you off from other books in this genre?

I will read the plot and reviews more thoroughly.

Would you be willing to try another one of Anne Flosnik’s performances?

No, her voice was somewhat shrill for me and she did not differentiate between characters enough.

What character would you cut from The Hellion Bride?

I am not sure, the majority were not like able and somewhat evil. The best character was a very minor character, Sinjin.

In Hot Blooded, she transports listeners into the heart of New Orleans, where a deluded murderer is on a holy quest of vengeance. Dr. Samantha Leeds hosts her own late-night radio talk-show on WSLJ. One day she receives a menacing phone call at her home, while miles away, a prostitute is strangled to death. Seemingly unrelated, nobody connects the two events until more murders occur under similar circumstances.

Would you try another book from Lisa Jackson and/or Alyssa Bresnahan?

I bought two of her books at the same time. So I will try the other book, Cold Blooded.I would not seek out either one again.

What could Lisa Jackson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The beginning was slow. The two main characters were not that comp ailing. Towards the ending she makes everyone look suspicious, trying to create suspense I guess.Main frustrations were that as soon as police believed the murderer was after the phone shrink they would have taped her office phone, house, and cell. They would have had a tail following her day and night, he was a serial killer. It would be the best way to catch him. They would have investigated the few office people completely. One had to be linked as there were only a few with access in and to a particular phone. These things made it ridiculous.

What didn’t you like about Alyssa Bresnahan’s performance?

She did not differentiate between voices well at all and her male voices were poor.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

    A plausible story.

    Any additional comments?

I am half way through Cold Blooded and it is no better. It is much the same as the first. I think she wanted to do a romance with some action or drama. The problem being if you are going to do that you have to think the story through.
I gave it the stars I did because I was able to finish it. So many I can't.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Yes, many things. First I don't care the time period, I don't believe in anytime and any class it would be accepted on repeated occurrences for a group of six or more people to berate one sister in reference to another sister's beauty over and over. I found it offensive to the story. Once the character accepts and grows to admire and want to keep the woman as his wife, I find it hard to believe for a very long time period for him to repeatedly be so cruel towards her appearance when he obviously is fond of her. Also, he repeatedly talks of her sisters beauty even after he is committed to his wife. The most effective, admirable and interesting character was Sinjin, the little sister of the offensive brute.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

The ending was good. I was surprised I stuck with it after there were so many disturbing aspects to the story. I suppose the constant disturbing parts were for psychological effect or something.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

It was adequate. I do think that other narrators could do it better. To qualify that statement, I am picky about narrators and feel some are good at some types of stories, accents and gender differences. I have favorites I buy books because they are masters of narration.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No. I have read and listened to various very offensive topics and material however, the degradation by family, friends and strangers of the main character was not necessary to the story. The message she is not as pretty as her sister and other pretty girls was beat into the ground.

    Any additional comments?

I did finish the book. The ending was charming but......... I bought the second book before I listened to this one. So I will try it. On a separate note the main characters are developed. Some of the more complex points of the story are quickly skipped over. I did really like her book, Split Second and a couple others. Maybe mass producing effects the short comings of some of her books....
This is the longest review I have done, possibly because I hope the author will read it.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes, I enjoyed the listen. I like the time period of the Civil War. This story was really about family, friends, love, betrayal and honor. I usually like action and humorous banter, this was a nice surprise though.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Shades of Honor (Grayson Brothers, Book 1)?

When the little girl started to come out of her shell. It was more about small memorable moments.

    Which scene was your favorite?

There was not one outstanding scene. There was a compilation of scenes.

Do you think Shades of Honor (Grayson Brothers, Book 1) needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

The characters are good. There is another book about one of the other brother's love story.

    Any additional comments?

There was good character development of the two main characters, the secondary characters could have been developed more. I think that it brings the community and town etc. to life. More details on the personalities of the brothers Boyd and Duke would have contributed to making the story more in depth. More background on the secondary characters would make it feel like it was not just a love story. It had small amounts of the horrors of war, that was crucial to making the story work. It is an easy read not complex. I did enjoy it.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I wouldn't recommend it but I would not dis-way listening to it. It is a damsel in distress with a hero.

Would you recommend Taking Chase to your friends? Why or why not?

I think there are other books that are better. This is just a love story. I prefer action, banter and story to go with the love story. Jeanine Frost's Night huntress series is excellent! Diane Duvall is also a great listen. These authors have more complex plot and characters.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Aletha George?

I would not seek her out. She wasn't bad.

Could you see Taking Chase being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Lifetime movie. People that like light plots and characters would watch it. I like more in depth characters, a bigger cast, and more complex plot.

It is a predictable love story, It did have a story, unlike some love stories. It is a damsel in distress story. The characters are likable.

What three words best describe Aletha George’s voice?

    She is okay.

Did Giving Chase inspire you to do anything?

    No, but I enjoyed it.

Not really, some may like it. I have an unrefined taste and a book has to capture me quickly.

This narrator did not benefit this book at all. Maybe another book. I would not seek him out and be wary of other books he narrator ed.

I have listened to it twice now.

Who was your favorite character and why?

There are too many great characters and they are all fascinating. The two main characters of each book are funny, unique and all around outstanding! This book was my favorite so far with Zack and Lyzete.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The funny scenes and the one that David threatens Zack. I think the scenes with Lyzete and her brothers are hilarious. Her books always have great action, in which is essential. The most important thing next to plot is the interaction of all the characters.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The scenes with Zack experiencing things for the first time and the scenes with Zack and Seth.

    Any additional comments?

I can't wait for the next one. I would really love it if the next book had all the characters in it but instead of the focus being on just two main characters, I would be excited to have 4 or 6 main character story lines. More on David, Seth, Aiden and minor relationship with Sheldon and Ethan.
