I am really mixed. The main two characters are very likable. It could have been great if while solving "his murder" there were a couple other mysteries going on at the same time. The more interaction between the two main characters could have had some great sardonic humor. Throw in the girl interest, she could have added some dark humor also. It is like a film noir but...... It is not too hard to get through but at the end..... There were only a few events that carry the whole story. It was along long story to solve one mystery. My least easy critic.
I might. His characters were great. He needed more story.
The narrator was very good. I don't think someone else would do better.
I tried to listen to it two or three times. It might have gotten better but, I couldn't keep my mind on it. The narration was not very good. Sometimes he spoke to fast and most of his voices sounded the same.
No, it is really hit and miss in this genre.
It really could not hold my attention. I think narration might have been the problem.
Yes, she has a variety of types of books. This one was very light, I prefer more meat to a book. If you want pure romance and not much else to a story this book is for you. The characters were likable. The romance was far fetched but, cute.
"It is what it is". People seeking romance with a little story will like this. It was enjoyable. I prefer plot, mystery, action, romance and in depth characters that you can get vested in.
She did a good job with this story.
Maybe a life time movie.
There are many more books that would be a better selection for a movie, Dianne Duvall's and Jeanine Frost.
This book was a pleasant diversion.
I am not sure. It was easy to listen to. The plot is light, not complex. It does seem like a format.
Narration was good.
I elaborate on book reviews if I love or hate the book. The last three books I have finished were not memorable or didn't create any feelings. The books past the time.
I bought two on sale. I will listen to the other. I had no problem getting through it. The characters were likable. It isn't a book I will listen to more than once. The journey was more interesting than the some of the book.
The characters were good, but not developed enough. Their lightly dusted over.
He has a nice voice, deep and raspy. His voice has an ironic nature. He didn't do women very well.
I wouldn't seek it out. Jeanine Frost, Dianne Duvall, Deborah Harkness are authors book's I would go to see if there were a movie.
I think many mystery lovers will like this book. I like more action, banter, romance, complex characters and a supernatural element would be a bonus.
I think there are many people that might like this book. For me it was like a B movie. The dialogue seemed forced for lack of a better term.
No. I seldom recommend books that are less than a 4 or 4 1/2 and or I have listened to multiple times.
He was fine with the male voices but not the female voices. He seemed very robotic too. I am not sure for a narrator.
I did finish it and the ending was happy so, there is that.....
I gave the story 3 even though it was not near as good as other 3s because I finished it, so I didn't want to give it 2s across.
The narrator wasn't bad but, she made following some of the story difficult.
I bought two at a sale. I won't listen to the other right away.
Gilbert, Kirsten Potter, Jennifer Ikeda
There were a couple of annoying characters voice etc. but I guess they were necessary.
I skipped parts of this book. I may try it again another time.
The plot and twists were good, not great but good. The characters don't draw you in or make you care more than a little. The characters do grow on you.
No, probably not. Some people will like this book.
The voices were not great. The main characters are female and the narrator did not do them well. I think a different narrator would have made the book better.
No and no.
Some people will like this book. It has a decent mystery. I think the narration ruined the story for me. It could have been a 3 1/2 *
The interaction between Dallas and Rourke
The relationship with Roarke is one to be envied, of course fiction.
First, I think there are people that will like this book. When I say blame I mean they think it is one person and then another and on and on. Another farce that doesn't make sense, a father abandons a child, spends a fortune to watch over him but not help with money, school or care when the child's mother dies. Have another child soon after and give her the world. His stepsister tells him it was to protect him because he loved him. That doesn't make since. He could have taken him with him and his stepsister. This theme is essential to the story so it persists to be irritating.
I don't know. I haven't liked the last several books. I wish there were more historical fiction (paranormal, romance drama, murder) Not just romantic historical fiction, those are too predictable.
I have a few favorites that do male, female and accents exceptionally. Jennifer Ikeda, Tavia Gilbert and Kristin Potter. When she is the narrator she is good, her accents are okay, Elena okay, Miles okay but, one of the main characters Trask is terrible. I thought Trask was a girl until they stated Trask is a male.
The premise was okay. It was a little beat into the ground that you can't trust anyone. Everyone is blaming everyone else for her father's murder. It goes on and on.
I believe there are people who will like this book. I couldn't finish it. I will try again another time. In the books defense, right now if a book doesn't capture my interest in the first three chapters I will hang in there a little and quit.
The premise was good and characters. The narrator was good, his women's voices were not. The execution just made it hard to finish. I wouldn't recommend it. It was very predictable the whole way through.
This was the only one.
There were some. Probably the scene where he saves the day.
Hard to say.
Predictable all the way through. The characters were good and the story was easy to follow.
