I really honestly love H.P. Mallory's books. The story lines are fun and the characters are not two dimensional. The only character that is rather annoying is.... yep, Dulcie. She's a hot head, we get that, but she never allows anyone else to have an opinion, she's way to quick to assume that all any man wants is a piece of her tush, and yep again, she's way too full of herself and her stunning looks. Let her have a few flaws. It would make her more likable. (the being ridiculously cocky flaw isn't lovable)
Terese Plummer is excellent at her job. Hang on to her, H.P.!
Dump the narrator!! Yah, you betcha!
I am actually from Minnesota, and have never, in my entire life, heard the moronic accent that the narrator used. It was like watching Fargo.
I could, most definitely.
people that are overly obsessed with their figure and weight
It felt like the main man would only like here because she was now slim.
There was way too much emphasis on this womans weight. How very sad. It could have been written in without making it the only reason she could now finally get a man
UN ACCENT the characters. Horrid!
The storyline is great
It reminded me of the ridiculous accents they stuck on the actors in the movie Fargo. Absolutely horrible.
I would read it again before listening again.
I really love this author, I hope that the rest of the books don't sound as over done as this one did.
the ideas and honesty are fantastic
My fiance is away with work from monday morning until friday afternoon. Ours is a situation that does not lend itself to the usual ideas of rebuilding trust, friendship, and hearts
should have had a different Narrator, and the story lines were pretty weak. I've never heard the Amish dialect slaughtered so horribly. I had to grit my teeth to get through it.
No, I love Amish stories, although usually less about fluff and romance and more about their lives. I've read and listened to many of them, but this one was beyond terrible.
Her voice is not bad, although, men's voices were pretty bad. But, well, it was kind of like listening to a kindergarten teacher read her class to sleep for naptime.
a lot of eye rolling.
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease never let her narrate another Amish book. Ever.
Debora Geary is so gifted. I hope that we are able to know many generations of the Witch Central series.
Is the writer that hung up on smoking, or does she believe that that much reference to cigarettes is really needed? I felt like I was in a smog filled room the entire time I was listening to it. It seemed like you couldn't get from one page to the next without a lighter, cigarette, match, or long, drawn out drag showing up. I don't care if they want to make the characters have vices, addictions, whatever, but it was nearly every character, and she beat the subject to death, like it was a personal soapbox.
liked the first of the series, but after this one, I don't think I'll be going back for more
She was ok, but the personalities could have shown through with better narration
It inspired me to not take up smoking again. Sheesh!
The writing is excellent, but Sarah Drew, wow, she is an amazing talent
It was written so that the pictures unfolded in my mind like a detailed movie, but with me forming them in my head.
She has the ability to make you feel the character's mind race, to feel the energy as a character bounces on her feet, the lethargic, the negativity. She is a rare gift to the audio world
I did, both actually. This has to be one of the most well written YA books I've come across so far. I could visualize this society as it had become, so strange, and my heart hurt for Lana as she realized the reality of it. Almost as if being drawn into the lies and then triumphant when she starts breaking through them.
I look forward to this series and most likely listening to it again, which is not common for me.
Her work is fantastic. The variety she manages is remarkable and she deadpans perfectly
I have only one small hope for future stories. Allison could be just a little more kind to the ghosts. Given the fact that they are stuck there, she would do well to be more diplomatic. Her relationship with Maxi is evolving into something fun. LOVE THAT!
it's a very small, but very important issue that I had with this audio... It's nice and soothing and I slipped off to sleep, only to be blasted awake by the THIS IS AUDIBLE man at the very end. SOOO poorly thought out.
