Julia and Joe Ferraro are living the good life in Manhattan now that Joe's finally made it; he's the star of a hit TV show and has just been nominated for a Golden Globe award. After many lean years, they've got a grand Upper West Side apartment and an Amagansett beach house, and their two kids go to elite private schools. Even better, Julia and Joe are still madly in love. Or so Julia thinks.

Fantastic narration, good story. I really liked Julia and could relate to her struggles as a mother. Cassandra Campbell is one of my favorites!

Best Joshilyn Jackson book since Gods in Alabama! The worst part is when it's over - I'm so sad to say goodbye to Big, Liza and Mosey!

In A Scattered Life, Karen McQuestion proves to be an adept chronicler of unforgettable female characters. Poignantly written, she thoughtfully examines how women love, learn, and come to accept themselves and others, as well as life’s often harsh realities of deception and loss. Skyla Plinka has all she could ask for - at least that’s what her mother-in-law Audrey thinks. On most days, Skyla agrees, yet there’s a part of her that longs for her free-spirited days before husband, child, and the humdrum life of rural Wisconsin.

I thought this would be a light, funny listen -- not so much. Also the narration was really rough in the beginning. It either got better or I got used to it, but I ended up sticking it out and kind of wish I didn't.

Despite her own mother's warnings, Tessa has recently given up her career to focus on her family and the pursuit of domestic happiness. From the outside, she seems destined to live a charmed life. In some ways I liked this book and in others I really didn't. It was a little cliche and at times I wasn't sure I liked any of the characters. I wasn't a fan of Dex and Rachel from Something Borrowed so to keep hearing how "perfect" they are was annoying. I will say the narration was fantastic, although I did picture Tessa with red hair!

Mercedes Hildebrand Ware is a member beyond reproach...until her life begins to unravel. When her husband betrays her, steals her money, and runs off to places unknown, it's something Frede would prefer to keep under wraps. The last thing she needs is to become fodder for the JLWC gossip mill. And to make matters worse, there's only one person in town who stands a chance at helping her get revenge - Howard Grout, a tasteless, gold-chain-wearing lawyer who has bought his way into Frede's tony neighborhood.

When the spirit of Lara's great-aunt Sadie - a feisty, demanding girl with firm ideas about fashion, love, and the right way to dance - mysteriously appears, she has one last request: Lara must find a missing necklace that had been in Sadie's possession for more than 75 years, and Sadie cannot rest without it. Lara, on the other hand, has a number of ongoing distractions.

    "Silly but still good"
    Overall

You have to use your imagination on this one. It is a ridiculous premise and Sadie can be annoying, but it's still better than most of what's out there in this genre. Once you just "go with it" there are some laugh out loud funny parts and it's a sweet story. This isn't my favorite narrator either, I agree with another reviewer that I might have enjoyed reading this one more than listening. But overall it's a good, fun choice.

When Arlene Fleet heads up north for college, she makes three promises to God: She will stop fornicating with every boy who crosses her path; never tell another lie; and never, ever go back to the "fourth rack of hell", her hometown of Possett, Alabama. All she wants from Him is one little miracle: make sure the body is never found.

What to do if Matthew, your secret lover, finally decides to leave his wife and move in, just when you're thinking that you might not want him anymore? Plan A: stop shaving your armpits; stop having sex with him; pick holes in the way he dresses; don't brush your teeth, or your hair. Plan B: accidentally on purpose, bump into his wife; give yourself a fake name and identity; befriend her; actually begin to really like her; befriend Matthew's children. Watch your whole plan go absolutely, horribly wrong.

    "Good British Chick Lit"
    Overall

I hate the term "chick lit" but I couldn't think of another way to describe it - maybe "comedy for women". Anyway, I really enjoyed this one. I thought it was very funny, well written, and had an interesting plot. If you like Marian Keyes or Sophie Kinsella I would say give this one a try. The narration seemed a little fast at first but either she slowed down or I got used to it. Overall, great easy listen!

When we meet septuagenarian Margaret Hughes, she is living alone in a mansion in Seattle with only a massive collection of valuable antiques for company. Enter Wanda Schultz, a young woman with a broken heart who has come to Seattle to search for her wayward boyfriend. Both women are guarding dark secrets and have spent many years building up protective armor against the outside world.

I really can't believe how many people liked this book, I guess it just wasn't for me. I found the characters and story soooo boring and the overdramtic narration made me crazy. This is the only book I've gotten from audible that I never finished.
