Over the course of a steamy and tense afternoon, 12 jurors deliberate the fate of a 19-year-old boy alleged to have murdered his own father. A seemingly open and shut case turns complicated, igniting passions and hidden prejudices.

The performances were really good in this dramatized version of Twelve Angry Men. The times have changed but the story still holds up nicely.

In this brave and moving memoir, Corey Feldman is revealing the truth about what his life was like behind the scenes: His is a past that included physical, drug, and sexual abuse, a dysfunctional family from which he was emancipated at age fifteen, three high-profile arrests for drug possession, a nine-month stint in rehab, and a long, slow crawl back to the top of the box office.

    Story

I remember when Corey Feldman was the hottest ticket in town. Then he disappeared, or so I thought. In this book he tells his many interesting stories of being famous and being infamous. What I didn't expect was how thoughtful he seemed and how much he has been misjudged all these years. There are stories of his relationship with Michael Jackson, his abuse at the hands of his mother and his downward spiral. Well worth the credit.

Lucie Blackman - tall, blond, 21 years old - stepped out into the vastness of Tokyo in the summer of 2000 and disappeared. The following winter, her dismembered remains were found buried in a seaside cave. The seven months in between had seen a massive search for the missing girl involving Japanese policemen, British private detectives, and Lucie’s desperate but bitterly divided parents. Had Lucie been abducted by a religious cult or snatched by human traffickers? Who was the mysterious man she had gone to meet? And what did her work as a hostess in the notorious Roppongi district of Tokyo really involve?

    Story

The true story is simple: a girl goes missing in Japan. Then it gets strange. If it were a novel, no one would believe the twists and turns. I learned so much about Japan and why young girls are drawn there. One of the best true crime books I have ever read.

Why we think it’s a great listen: If you’ve ever loved a dog - or even patted a dog - this book, told from the perspective of man’s best friend, will tug at your heartstrings...and won’t let go until long after Welch performs the last word. Enzo knows he is different from other dogs: a philosopher with a nearly human soul (and an obsession with opposable thumbs), he has educated himself by watching television extensively and by listening very closely to the words of his master.

When I was a kid I saw ROCKY and was surprised that I liked it so much even though it was about boxing. But it turns out it wasn't really about boxing. The same can be said about this book which is about racing but not really. It was so interesting to read a book from the dog's point of view but it made me think so much. I did make good use of my hanky on this one.

He was tall, at least six feet, with dirty blond hair that hung over his eyes. His T-shirt read Nietzsche Is My Homeboy. So, that was Matt. Who Julie Seagles likes. A lot. But there is also Finn. Who she flat out loves. Complicated? Awkward? Completely. But really, how was this freshly-minted Boston transplant and newbie college freshman supposed to know that she would end up living with the family of an old friend of her mother’s? This was all supposed to be temporary.

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten. Insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw, The Fault in Our Stars is award-winning-author John Green’s most ambitious and heartbreaking work yet, brilliantly exploring the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

I don't know why I resisted this book for so long, but once I got it I couldn't stop listening. Kate Rudd does a beautiful job reading this surprisingly upbeat story. I laughed and cried and then cried some more. As soon as I finished listening I started at the beginning and listened again. It was that good.

Tori Spelling is the first to admit that the "reality" behind her popular television show, Tori & Dean, isn't always real. Not even Star magazine could invent the true chaos that happens behind the scenes. Luckily, Tori is famously honest and self-deprecatingly funny when it comes to her personal life - she's always "Spelling it like it is". Tori here shares her stories, her biggest challenges, and more with the usual humor, candor, and down-to-earth charm that her fans love.

Yes, I will admit that I am a closet Tori Spelling fan--she is so funny and insightful. I've listened to her other books and always loved the way she relates her stories even if they don't paint her in the best light. This book was especially interesting in light of her current woes.
