I've only listened to a couple of chapters so far but listening to Jonathan Marosz is driving me crazy. I love David Baldacci, in fact, I just finished Innocent and The Hit. It's just this narrator that I don't like
I was introduced to Anne McCaffrey in 1981. I have been a fan of hers ever since. So, if a book has her, (or her son, Todd's) name, buy it. The world of Pern seems so real, it is easy to imagine it really exists somewhere in the outer regions of our galaxy.
I didn't realize that these books were written for teenagers, boys at that. I, on the other hand am the exact opposite of a teenage boy. I simply could not get through the first half of the first book in the series. I absolutely would not recommend these books to anyone over the age of 16
This book has two separate story lines. I really liked the main story line and think that Michael Siemsen should develop it into another book. BUT, the second story line STANK. It was so lame and needs to be dropped, (like a hot potato). I understand that the second line stems from the unusual talent of Matthew Turner and I think another book featuring this character could be good…just don't try creating a second story line. You detract from Matthew. This was a book about Matthew but you got so caught up in the lame details of the artifact, you drew all the attention away from Matthew. As for Chris Patton, I was not too impressed by his performance either, but that could have been because he didn't enjoy the book and that came through in his performance. I don't know.
If you suffer from insomnia…this book is for you. It WILL put you to sleep. Adam Epstein must have been brain dead when he read this, it sounded like a technical manual rather than a story.
I'm having a hard time listening to this particular version of Tyranny's Alliance. Andrea Bates should stick to reading dry educational books. She sounds like a school girl trying to imitate a male voice. Her narration is so freaking distracting that I keep losing track of the story line. She simply does not do Wilkins/Draude justice. Please, please, please, redo this book with Stephanie Brush.
I really enjoyed listening to this story. Wilkins/Draude kept me well entertained. I will definitely listen to them again. I have always enjoyed listening to Stephanie Brush, so the performance is a good one.
