For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.

I listened to this entire book during a 24 hour sickness during which I couldn't even think about moving from the horizontal position. Having said that, my review might be a little biased as I was so appreciative of being transported to Sanderson's world. Sometimes I even miss the characters, but that could be the fever talking...

Very unique concepts in this story and the author definitely knows where he is going with the story the entire time. The narrator does a great job. Overall I would definitely recommend.

  • The Iliad

    • Narrated By Alfred Molina

The power and the beauty of The Iliad resound again across 2,700 years in Stephen Mitchell's exciting new translation, as if the lifeblood of its heroes Achilles and Patroclus, Hector and Priam flowed in every word. And we are there with them amid the horror and ecstasy of war, carried along by a poetry that lifts even the most devastating human events into the realm of the beautiful.

Seeing as one simply does not critique The Iliad...my goal in doing this review was to simply say that after reading the Iliad and also listening to the Iliad, I would have to recommend Audible's version as most enjoyable.

When their village is attacked by trollocs, monsters thought to be only legends, three young men, Rand, Matt, and Perrin, flee in the company of the Lady Moiraine, a sinister visitor of unsuspected powers. Thus begins an epic adventure set in a world of wonders and horror, where what was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

Robert Jordan's writing really takes you to his world. This is a beginning to a very long series, the narrators do a great job. I think that listening to this book is a preferable way to experience it.

What does James Marsters bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

James Marsters is Harry Dresdan. I won't listen to any book in this series that he isn't narrating.
