I bought this one and Toil and Trouble, so I'm hoping I enjoy it more. Fingers crossed.
New author, for me.
I enjoyed the narrators voice when doing female voices, but the male voices were lacking for me.
I thought it would be less of a paranormal romance story and more of just the paranormal. I do like either. I'll definitely have to read the second in the series because I never get a good impression from a book that's first in a series. There's enough left up in the air to make it an interesting read. Having said that, I was really hoping for more extensive information on the change, this stories rules of being a vampire etc,. I'm hoping for a clearer picture in the next book.
Such an original story told by a great narrator. There seems to be layers upon layers and, I know I haven't caught everything. I only keep the books that I know I will read again, maybe for pleasure, or to discover more from the stories I already enjoyed the first time. Charley is a smart, loyal, hilarious character, but then add her "family" of misfits and I'm all in.
I didn't read the book. Only listened to the audio book.
Aside from the main character, Jane Jameson, in this book I really enjoyed her aunt (ghost.) she's a complete smart ass and I love it. When she, (aunt,) said " ...somebody slap her...") I was in stitches.
On another note, I detest the Grandma Ruthie character. I mean It's THE most hated charecter for me, in print ever, so far.
She really seems to understand the sassy main character and the fun tone the book. She also contributes to my dislike of the grandma Ruthie charecter, in how she does her voice.
Yes, surprisingly the death of one of the characters got me teary.
Yes, already have. It's just a good, fun read.
Aside from the main charecter, I adored Zeb.its
Life's rough, then you (un) die.
I liked that even though it was a little predictable, at times there still were parts that I didn't see coming. Also there was always something happening with at least one character during the slower moving stories.
I really enjoy her narrative voice, her female characters too, but the male voices are so deep and slow kind of make them sound villain like.
Yes, and do
She's one of my favs. She has a great range with different voices.
