Carlin Reed lives in fear, off the grid, moving from place to place. So Battle Ridge, Wyoming, a small town in the middle of nowhere, seems like a good place to lie low for a while. But after becoming cook and housekeeper to cattle rancher Zeke Decker, Carlin suspects that she’s made her first mistake. Rugged, sexy, and too distracting for his own good, Zeke is pure temptation mixed with something deep and primal that makes Carlin feel almost safe. Soon things are getting way too hot in the kitchen.

Would you try another book from Linda Howard and Linda Jones and/or Maggie Wheeler?

    Yes

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Maggie Wheeler?

    Anyone!

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The plot was ok but the writing was sophomoric at best and narration was horrible. So disappointed in this product that had Linda Howard's name on it.

A self-help audiobook for single, financially savvy women; It outlines how to dress, present yourself, what subjects to get educated in, and what type of places to visit in order to meet and attract wealthy men. It not only gives pointers on how to get financial favors from your suitors without giving it up but it also gives pointers on how to make the money you accumulated work for you in the future. The author shares the lessons she's learned over the years and inspires women around the globe to never lose sight of their goals.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Baje Fletcher?

The narration was horrible. She cannot articulate full words. I forced myself to make it 2/3 of the way through but I could not finish, it was so horrible.

    Any additional comments?

Being strong, self-promoting and demanding that you be valued are all laudable characteristics toward which women should strive. The narrator makes good points on self promotion (even if some of them are amateurish, you will not be taken seriously on any subject if all you know are the mere basics she includes in her book eg. red wine with meat and white wine with fish) and expects women to value themselves which is wonderful. I object to her blatant condescension toward her duped men and women who aren't doing things her way.

I will carry out one last hit, but if they hurt her I will bring the world down around their ears.

What would have made Last Hit better?

    This is NOT a romance!

What was most disappointing about Jessica Clare and Jen Frederick ’s story?

    Disjointed, unromantic, disgusting

    Any additional comments?

This is one of the worst pretend romance books I have read, ever!

Ex-high school cheerleader Natalie Cooper could once shake her pom-poms with the best of them. But she's paid for all that popularity: her husband's run off with what's left of their money and a 20-year-old bimbo named Tiffany. Leaving Natalie to manage a photo store and having to see some pictures she, well, really shouldn't.

If you’ve listened to books by Rachel Gibson before, how does this one compare?

I like Rachel Gibson's writing style and have listened to all her audiobooks. I enjoyed this book. The story was cute, simple and true to style. It was not special nor one of her best and the ending was abrupt.

Interesting world and technology. The male lead is a total creeper one minute (obsessively controlling) and then completely solicitous the next (cooking and cleaning). It was ok and maybe I will pick up the next two, there is not all that much out there in alien romance fiction. More sophisticated/serious than Johanna Lindsey's Deep space/ Ly-san-ter series and certainly less misogynistic than Laurann Dohner's Zorn or Cyborg. I don't ever see myself re-listening to this.

Marie doesn't need a complication like Horse. The massive, tattooed, badass biker who shows up at her brother's house one afternoon doesn't agree. He wants Marie on his bike and in his bed. Now. But Marie just left her abusive jerk of an ex-husband and she's not looking for a new man. Especially one like Horse - she doesn't know his real name or where he lives, she's ninety percent certain he's a criminal and that the "business" he talks with her brother isn't website design.

I bought it due to the strength of the rating but was blown away. I was hesitant because i am no biker chick and never had the slightest inclination in that direction. That's what is great about a novel you get to suspend reality and Joanna Wylde made me totally forget myself because I was panting after Horse. This book was intriguing, slightly troubling (morality, social dynamics), and HOT. I listened to this just a few weeks ago and have already considered re-listening, checked on her next release date and website. Even if this is not your typical brand of alpha male consider giving it a listen, definitely worth the credit.

Katie Lightfoot's tired of loafing around as the assistant manager of an Ohio bakery. So when her aunt Lucy and uncle Ben open a bakery in Savannah's quaint downtown district and ask Katie to join them, she enthusiastically agrees. While working at the Honeybee Bakery - named after Lucy's cat - Katie notices that her aunt is adding mysterious herbs to her recipes. Its light. Its fun. It is not thought provoking, or emotionally challenging. It took a minute to get out of the Sookie Stackhouse frame of mind due to the narrator but after I got into it it was ok. It was a nice setup novel, just a hint of romance but the setup for a angsty love triangle is created. The story was amusing but not as funny as a Molly Harper or Janet Evanovich. It was "magical" but not overwhelmingly or complicatedly so, more contemporary than urban fantasy, she's not building a whole new world. I give three stars because it was good but it wasn't epic or a reread.
