One look at Harry Pye, and Georgina knows she's not just dealing with a servant, but a man. Harry has known many aristocrats - including one particular nobleman who is his sworn enemy. But Harry has never met a beautiful lady so independent, uninhibited, and eager to be in his arms. Still, it's impossible to conduct a discreet liaison when poisoned sheep, murdered villagers, and an enraged magistrate have the county in an uproar.

As others have said, this is the best of the three books in this series (Raven Prince, Leopard Prince, Serpent Prince). You really don't need to read these in any order, as they don't connect much at all with each other. Something about the personality of this heroine, and the commoner hero, really click. Love everything about it. I always love the stories where females from this time period defy convention and are as independent as possible. This narrator is fabulous, cannot say enough about the great job she does.

When spirited, independent Miss Annis Wynchwood embroils herself in the affairs of a runaway heiress, she is destined to see a good deal of Mr Carleton, Lucilla's uncivil and high-handed guardian. And, chafing at the restrictions of Bath society, Annis has to admit that at least Mr Oliver Carleton is never boring.

Another fun listen from Heyer. I found this very enjoyable. The interactions between Annis and Mr. Carleton were so entertaining. I again felt like I was watching a play. The narrator did a great job, I thought. As usual I enjoy the strong female, not afraid to be on her own. There may not have really been that many women like that during the regency period, but it's fun to imagine how some might have acted. And I found myself liking her character from the start. I don't enjoy books where either the heroine or the hero are hard to like. Sounds silly, but you really do get to know them as a real person if the author does their job well. This book doesn't quite reach the level of 'the Grand Sophy', but still a top pick for me from this author.

In defense of her honor, innocent Leda Etoile has burned all her bridges and taken refuge in her tiny attic room in a shabby boarding house in London. But her last safe haven is invaded when she wakes to find a man hidden in the dark - a man with golden hair and the face of a fallen angel, who moves in the night like a shadow. Will he be her savior, or her ruin? Samuel Gerard draws her inexorably into the richest circles of aristocratic England. But even as Leda falls in love with a man she can never have, she must keep his secrets.

The author/narrator combo of Kinsale and Boulton are just too great to describe as anything but the gold standard! I save these books for when I want to listen to something outstanding. I am never disappointed. This is another wonderful story of two lives coming together through very unusual circumstances. I love the way this author takes you right into the mind and heart of the characters. Leda with her prim and proper ways, combined with Samuel and his dark side, it is just so excellent. And the narration, the different voices, accents, once again just makes the experience. Would give 10 stars if I could. And can't wait to savor another one by this author and narrator.

This is one of those books in which, from the start, I liked both the hero and heroine. That alone made this enjoyable, but the dialog between these two is so fabulous, and the narration so wonderful, that is stands out as a big favorite for me. I was laughing out loud during my commute. Other drivers probably wondered if they should steer clear! This book, more than most books I've listened too, made me feel just like I was watching it on stage. That describes how great this narrator is. Definitely worth a credit and highly recommend it.

One of the things I love about books by Georgette Heyer is the different types of heroes and heroines. This book has that, with the very shy duke who would never be the lead character in any typical romance. Her books make you believe in the average person. I love this plot, the scrapes that he gets into, the incredibly ditzy foundling, the transformation of the duke and therefore of his romance. Loved it from start to finish. And I have yet to hear narration by this author that was not first rate. Always love her work. Highly recommend this one.

Penniless Elinor is rather surprised at the carriage that meets her from the stage, and more so at the decayed grandeur of the house to which she's transported. Realising that there has been a case of mistaken identity she agrees to an audacious plan.

I have 3 or 4 books by Heyer that I rank at the top of my list, this is joining them. Just the right combination of author with narrator. I love her stories with great secondary characters that are well developed, in this case the siblings of Edward. The dialog is really what makes these books. Sadly, I've been listening to so many by this author that many other romances are boring for me now. These books are not steamy romances as so many of this type are. The enjoyment is in the character development, the subtle dialog and the often funny scenes that come as a result.

The Earl of Spenborough has always been noted for his eccentricity. Leaving a widow younger than his own daughter Serena is one thing, but quite another is leaving Serena's fortune to the trusteeship of the Marquis of Rotherham -- a man whom Serena once jilted and who now has the power to give or withhold his consent to any marriage she might contemplate. When Serena and her lovely young stepmother Fanny decide to move to Bath, Serena makes an odd new friend and discovers an old love, Major Hector Kirkby.

This is a fun listen, liked how the plot unfolds and the secondary characters add so much. I did have a harder time with this 'couple' than in some other books by Heyer. Just couldn't totally picture them together. But I still recommend this book because it is so much fun. And the narration is great. Lately all I listen to is books by this author, they are a great escape and not typical romance. Highly recommend.

One of my favorites by Heyer. So glad I ignored the really awful picture on the front. I know these are older books but honestly, this picture is ridiculous even for 50 years ago. That said, the book is great. Loved both the hero and heroine, and the other characters were well-developed, too. The narration was so good, I was laughing out loud at the bratty voice of Tiffany. Just love this author, the dialog is what makes these books.

Tired of his aristocratic family constantly pressuring him to get married, he determines to run away after meeting the delightful, unconventional heroine Penelope Creed. Penelope - literally - falls into his life late one night as she hangs from the window of her aunt's house - she too attempting to escape the pressures of forced marriage.

This is a fun listen that kept me very entertained. I loved the antics of Penn, she acted on impulse which of course is usually not a good idea. Ricky's reactions were usually tolerant and helpful. The storyline in this book may have been used before by many authors. What makes Heyer's books is the dialog. She has a real talent for writing great conversation and infusing it with nuances that help develop the characters. One of the funniest characters in this book was Mr. Brandon. I could just picture him all dressed up like a dandy in the country village. Just way to many fun things to mention in a review without spoiling it for others. Narration was top notch. Highly recommend if you like this genre. And definitely worth a credit.

Got this after reading several other reviews that mentioned it as a favorite. It is one of the best. The story had me laughing out loud, the antics of the younger brothers and how Alverstoke was drawn into this family, so well written. Just love how Heyer creates these story lines. And this narrator was amazing. He truly was an actor, not all the narrators achieve that. He was able to infuse the humor, irony, anger, all those emotions in the dialog. I would give 10 stars if I could for the story and the narration. You do have to like Regency period romances to enjoy these books. Will be listening to many more by this author.

Just finished listening to this one, and once again enjoyed this author. Have never 'read' any of her books. Discovered them on audible after reading some other reviews. I thought this one was an excellent story. Reminded me of Jane Austen books with the personalities unfolding and the subtle humor. I love most of the books by this author because they are a change of pace from more modern romance writing. I liked all the voices the narrator used except for the stepmother. It was too shrill and 'fake'. However, the others were very good. Will be looking for more titles by this author.
