I listened to this book multiple times. I seriously could just be dumb. I totally and wholeheartedly agree with that. But I just wanted a good idea of what Plato was about, and even though the subject matter is quite difficult to explain I feel that I should have at least been able to grasp something. But I just couldn't so if you're really smart get but if you are not or are not in the mood to paste things together and listen multiple times do not get
Biggest GoT fan BOI you will ever meet. The narration was freaking awesome. Learning some facts about a super interesting series was awesome
It's just a history book, and I was craving GoT. Like GOT G-O-T action adventure darkness violence rape uber entertaining shock value but also depth and all that good stuff. This failed miserably I literally get frustrated listening to it like okay okay okay the series is so cool and the history is to but dude release the next book not this this feels like a lame I'm stalling.
I saved listening to this book for the gap that would come in between waiting for the malazan book to be released. The malazan book in its series that is. I thought it would be a sure fire win, something I had to like if not love. And I truly mean it when I say this it was one of the biggest surprise of my life and I'm not even a huge reader or listener there's just like every so often some books come out like the first law books or malazan or the books where the character has the blood song (honestly can't even remember the name). That I freaking love and cannot stop listening to. And I am so angry that Joe Abercrombie what young adult, but that being said I had to revert to the second book in his young adult series over this one. This book was so freaking boring I had no idea what was going on and like honestly was just terrible I'm just shocked. Seriously just so super surprised. Like I love rogues and thieves and knaves and assassins and that whole aspect of role-playing games and fantasy books and this book somehow managed to make them seem like accountants, I feel like I'm reading a book where all the characters are accountants. Just like the whole mentality and personality of a really organized accountant.
Just my two you know whats.
Like the first book a disappointment if your expecting anything like first law. Period. Let me just lay that out right now. People might say different because of bias or because of whatever, but from me to you sitting across from each other at a chuckie cheese I swear on my life just floating in the air and having this book enter my ear nostril tunnels it's ALRIGHT but dudebroman SOOOOOOOOO far from the first law series or heroes or red country or the other one.
Now that the elephant has been killed let me leave the room and say it's a bit better then the first one and was decent at holding me off until BOOK NINE MALAZAN WHICH JUST CAME OUT TIME TO QUIT MY JOB.
it's YA and you can tell, I was legit all jokes aside really mad really disgruntled in real life that he went to YA because his books truly brought me that much joy. But no wait I know what your going To say. I didn't become disgruntled when he went young adult I became disgruntled after I listened to his young adult books, this is my first experience with anything young adult. I looked it up and saw that it didn't have to be rated lower so I didn't care whatsoever, that is to say, I went into this book or at least its predecessor with full hopes high like I had zero apprehension I didn't thinkit would be any worse whatsoever except maybe more action if anything I was excited.
Then I listened. It's hard to tell that the authors are the same but it's just completely different dude it sucks, in my humble opinion.
But this one sucks less than the first and knowing what I was getting into took away the huge disappointment thing or at least the surprise of it.
I'd say it's still worth the credit have fun.
Oh and the narrators awesome. He does great that's all good and everything and really makes the story much more listenable.
I thought it would be released May 10! Yes yes yes it's out! Finally!
If you truly love stuff like game of thrones and joe abercrombies NON YOUNG ADULT BS then you will love the Malazan series. But you already know that after all this is book 9.
But if you have stumbled across this and your revolted by Robert Jordan's heinous classics, by Patrick r's kvothe uber boringness tales, or sandersons g rated repeat into oblivion power rangers, then you will love this deep and dark and awesome series. It's got it all. Philosophical crap that you really get a nostalgic buzz feeling from. I have no idea what philosophy and nostalgia have to do with one another but that's the best way I can describe the feelings invoked. You'll get that plus a badass fantasy tale with giant beasts, Wizards, assassins (God the assassins are so cool theirs like multiple groups to like THE CLAW and THE TALON (talons? I forgot because it TAKES FOREVER FOR THE MALAZAN BOOKS TO BE RELEASED ON AUDIBLE), and just awesomeness.
Epic battles like dragon ball a where a dark elf master Demi God fights like 8 grandmaster Mage humans, a dude who is half Orc like race half human who if he gets super pissed levels and annihilates civilizations but has amnesia afterwards and is almost so much of a puss in his normal state that you just burn with anticipation for someone to piss him off. (Puss in terms of philosophy and not wanting to fight, he still however can and does fight and is a badass. I could go on and on there's all sorts of magicand races and battles and weapons it's just got everything, believe me start the series if you haven't and you're a fan of fantasy.
This series and the first law series are the stuff** that make me want to climb the Eiffel Tower. God, God bless us all kids I'm so happy that this was just released.
Get it you won't regret it, if you love the first law series but despise g rated fantasy with huge descriptions of clothes and massive amounts of the same thing in the book being repeated over and over. Like those books That are made so that you can be in the airport and pick up the sixth book in the series and know what's going on because there's that much explanation and repetition, forget that that's for sales, if you did that with the series you would be totally lost. And honestly you wouldn't be entertained because even though there's a ton of cool action you need the back story because there is so much of it. But that's okay. That's what makes it good.
JUST TRY IT YOULL LOVE IT I LOVE THESE BOOKS XOXOXOXO
Jesus thank god something new and not Sanderson why did joe ambercromb switch styles and do that YA P.o.s. Why aren't the rest of the malazan books available on audible yet ? Why must I wait for these rare gems while you all drone on about Robert Jordan's heinous description of clothes books?
I have no idea people who are just really simple, like no negative connotation whatsoever and I bet the majority of people are smarter than me and I'm an idiot. But I just sit dumbfounded I don't know what to say this book was so boring so dumb so about nothing
Everything. This book sucks. If you like erikson rr martin Abercrombie steer clear
It's like Harry potter (which I loved) minus everything that makes Harry Potter good
Super annoying teenage voice
Extreme disappointment I thought it was going to be awesome
This is probably one of the worst books I've ever read, I sincerely mean this and have no reason to say so aside from the fact that it really was
Something very different from this something that has with the title says it does
If there had been powerful phrases for dealing with difficult people
I wish there were some phrases for dealing with difficult people powerful or weak or whatever just some
Simply doesn't make sense. The delay in machines picking up neural activity or whatever doesn't justify no free will. Author just says that it does says that it's that simple and then moves on. Makes the whole premise of the book kind of BS and weak. He quickly says it's because scans pick up this or whatever blah blah and that's why there's no free will but that point that he makes there doesn't make sense, he just moves on and speculates but that point that he moves on from is wrong.
Was hoping for a book with a few good debate tactics. This gets philosophical and nonsensical. You won't feel like you have anything to apply from this book in your next argument, it gives you nothing.
