i liked the believability of the characters
Awesome narration. really brings depth to the different characters and emotion to the story. He really engages your mind and its quite easy to sink into the story for hours.
I am sure the book is quite good but I will be asking for a refund for this one. The Narration is just terrible. I am really sorry Anne Flosnik but this is not your calling.
There is no depth to the characters, she is incredibly slow even at 1.25 times the speed. its very mono tone so the book doesn't develop any real feeling as to what is going on. The spacing between sections in chapters is almost non existent and its really hard to follow from one part to the next. And all the characters sound the same boy or girl, old or young.
Looking at other reviews of this narrator this is a common feeling so its really disappointing that the entire series is read by this one lady. She just doesn't give the book justice.
Will be reading this one myself thanks!
Its not an essential read for the Virgin River series. Its more of an overlap than part of the time line. Not as good as the others and you don't miss anything by not reading it.
Wasn't as involving in the community as the other books but still a nice escape.
I was so looking forward to the John Preacher story and was really disappointed to see the character take a back seat to the first book couple. Its an enjoyable listen still but I really hope that its not a sign of the books to come. Jack and Mel are awesome but, not why I chose this book.
Therese is by far one of the best Narrators out there though. Beautiful clear voice that really gives life to the characters and story.
I'm not sure its one of the best of her series but she is getting better at focusing on the main characters rather than the old favorites. I think she needs to back off the womens health issues a bit too. They are starting to over shadow the story and its making the prospect of continuing with the series a little bit daunting. Its the story, the romance and the drama I enjoy - not the continued up close and personal look at all the characters lady bits. Seriously... Not everyone is obsessed with having babies or detailed descriptions of babys entering the world. Surely they could have worked out a better way to do that by now!!!
Fantastic reading by Therese Plummer though.
Yes, It was mesmerising.. So sweet with a story that really sucks you in without lacking in the little details about the reality of living on the land in this beautiful sunburt country.
The incident in the kitchen... It was read so well by Miranda, you could hear the emotion charging her voice and Rachael really left no detail out. The grittiness that is the reality of those situations wasn't left out and whilst it was confronting, it wasn't in a away that took away from the rest of the book. A truly truthful representation of a situation that all to many women go through all too often and also a representation that shares useful ways to move on and get through it.
She has an amazing way of bringing these stories and characters to life. I have yet to come across another narrator that is as apt as her for giving the characters this level of emotion or even give so many characters such different persona's.
A brilliant book that is perfect for audio. Rachael has written a wonderful piece that truly represents the real world of farming in recent times. No corner of this way of life is glossed over or forgotten and I especially liked the way the kids in the book were used as way to provide explanations to the listeners who may not have the background of someone more familiar to the farming world, via oral teachings from their parents.
The first book I have read/listened that I truly thought "this could have been my life!"
Written by a master of the genre and read by a truly up and coming narrator. Well done to both of you! Its a credit to your talents and professionalism.
story seemed to drag on a bit but i couldn't say if that was due to the plot or the almost monotone reading.
yes, Its well read and very interesting and entertaining
the comparison of stories at the end.
the accents of the characters. Brilliant representation
the end, when he's safe but hoarding food compulsively
The main Character seems to be involved with a guy who doesn't seem to take no for an answer.... seem pretty standard but, the aggression portrayed and the way he forces her... No always means no. not themes I think should be promoted in society and not something i thought i would find in one of Nora's books.
not portrayed the relationship between the lead characters as being one that borders on abusive.
no... I think there are better works by these authors
Very disappointing. It had none of the usual magic that makes her books so compelling. Very bland
good read and good depth in the characters. very easy to build a picture in your mind
No. this story was flossed out to the extremes just to make it as long as it was. it wasn't done well and a follow up would just be ridiculous.
