  • Kisser: A Stone Barrington Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 33 mins)
    • By Stuart Woods
    • Narrated By Tony Roberts
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Stone Barrington is back in New York, and after a rather harrowing sojourn in Key West, he's looking to stay closer to home and work on some simple divorce and custody cases for Woodman & Weld. But when he crosses paths with a fetching Broadway actress-and sometime lip model- Stone gets a little more deeply involved with business than he'd expected. When his new lady love turns out to be a lady with a shady past, Stone and downtown cop Dino Bacchetti realize that her beauty may have an unusually high price.

    A User says: "No more...."

I REALLY wished I had paid attention to reviews before I jumped into this one. I have been a member of for years and I am lucky I have only had a hand full of books that I disliked. This has to be on the top of my list. I realize this is just a story but come on.. it is HORRIBLE! The narrator does not really help this book either. And I totally agree with Nancy in Tampa. I quit listening because I kept finding myself screaming "YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME". Don't waste your money or a credit!

  • Gone Girl: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (19 hrs and 11 mins)
    • By Gillian Flynn
    • Narrated By Julia Whelan, Kirby Heyborne
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

Teddy says: "Demented, twisted, sick and I loved it!"
"Did not live up to the hype!"
What would have made Gone Girl better?

    A better ending!

What could Gillian Flynn have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

    Finish the story!!

Did Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Narrators did a really really good job!

    Any additional comments?

Story kept me listening but then came the ending and all I can say to myself was: "What the heck! You have GOT to be kidding me!" And this was NOT a good thing!

  • Live to Tell: A Detective D. D. Warren Novel

    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

On a warm summer night in one of Boston’s working-class neighborhoods, an unthinkable crime has been committed: Four members of a family have been brutally murdered. The father—and possible suspect—now lies clinging to life in the ICU. Murder-suicide? Or something worse? Veteran police detective D. D. Warren is certain of only one thing: There’s more to this case than meets the eye.

Erin says: "Live To Tell - 3.5 stars"
    ""I can’t stop listening!""

"I can’t stop listening/reading!" this is what all my friends have said too. It's fantastic and you never look at a kid the same way when they are acting out, like at a grocery store.. ???? .... I love Lisa Gardner's books! Great Job!

  • The Big Bamboo

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 31 mins)
    • By Tim Dorsey
    • Narrated By George Wilson

Serge and sidekick Coleman head out west to take on Hollywood bigwigs and L.A. lowlifes in Dorsey's most outrageous novel yet. Before Tinseltown knows what's hit it, Serge has made an unforgettable foray to the Playboy Mansion and come up against Japanese Yakuza and a host of wacky characters.

Jose says: "Serge is never subprime!"

OMG! This is terrific. Narrator, George Wilson is the BEST! I sometimes listen to my books at work and it's so hard to sit there and not laugh out loud! And.. with so many of Tim Dorsey's books there are lots of thought provoking moments! ;-) I listen to them as soon as they come out! This one is excellent!

  • Cold Heart

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 4 mins)
    • By Lynda La Plante
    • Narrated By Lorelei King

Harry Nathan's death is the beginning of a trail of conspiracy, and when the desperate call comes through from Cindy Nathan, the dead man's wife, private investigator Lorraine Page faces her toughest fight ever. She needs the money. She also believes the grieving widow's story, a belief that soon runs her into conflict with her ex-colleagues at the police department who have already charged Cindy with murder.

    Kimery says: "WHAT!"

Ending was totally incongruous. All I kept thinking toward the end was... this isn't right! Although I LOVE the narrator Lorelei King, which is the reason I chose this book, I doubt I'll listen to another book by this author. But.. it's just my opinion.

  • The Broken Window: A Lincoln Rhyme Novel, Book 8

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 12 mins)
    • By Jeffery Deaver
    • Narrated By Dennis Boutsikaris
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When Lincoln's estranged cousin Arthur Rhyme is arrested on murder charges, the case is perfect - too perfect. Forensic evidence from Arthur's home is found all over the scene of the crime, and it looks like the fate of Lincoln's relative is sealed.

Audiophile says: "Long, Complex, and Good."
"Long and ?? is it necessary"

I love the book but there are parts, that if cut out, would make this book ALOT shorter and easier to listen to. More then a couple of times I was thinking.. and why am I listening to this? But all in all the characters are great and it had a good plot. I'm thinking I should have gone for the abridged version though!

  • What Came Before He Shot Her

    • ABRIDGED (9 hrs and 39 mins)
    • By Elizabeth George
    • Narrated By Charles Keating

The brutal, inexplicable death of Inspector Thomas Lynley's wife has left Scotland Yard shocked and searching for answers. Even more horrifying is that the trigger was apparently pulled by a 12-year-old boy. Who is he? Where did he come from? And what were the circumstances that led to his final act of desperation?

Rebecca says: "Bleak, pedantic Elizabeth George"

If you like stories about gangs and bullies.. this is for you. I don't and it isn't. UGH!

  • A Prisoner of Birth

    • UNABRIDGED (16 hrs and 24 mins)
    • By Jeffrey Archer
    • Narrated By Roger Allam
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

One evening, Danny, an East End cockney who works as a garage mechanic, takes his girlfriend up to the West End to celebrate their engagement. He crosses the path of Spencer Craig, a West End barrister tipped to be the youngest Queen's Counsel of his generation. A few hours later Danny is arrested for murder and later is sentenced to 22 years in prison.

    Debbie McKelvey says: "Very Entertaining"
    "Great Listen!"

I have not listened to Jeffrey Archer's books before but that will change! It was edge of your seat exciting. Roger Allen was fantastic to listen to.. and made the book exhilarating. I LOVED the ending! PERFECT! Can't wait to listen to more of his works.

  • Killer Dreams

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 30 mins)
    • By Iris Johansen
    • Narrated By Jennifer Van Dyck
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

New York Times best-selling author Iris Johansen returns with a new suspense thriller guaranteed to keep readers turning pages all night long, an adrenaline-laced shocker that pits a mother and son against a killer who's the stuff of nightmares.

    Kimery says: "HOLY COW BATMAN!"

If you liked the old Batman shows you'll LOVE this book. EVERYTHING is SOOOOO over dramatized that it's hard to get into. It was so hard to listen to that I just didn't get what the story line was anymore. I had to quit.

  • The Husband

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 32 mins)
    • By Dean Koontz
    • Narrated By Holter Graham
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

With each and every new novel, Dean Koontz raises the stakes, and the pulse rate, higher than any other author. Now, in what may be his most suspenseful and heartfelt novel ever, he brings us the story of an ordinary man whose extraordinary commitment to his wife will take him on a harrowing journey of adventure, sacrifice, and redemption to the mystery of love itself, and to a showdown with the darkness that would destroy it forever.

    David says: "Excellent read!"
"The twist was SOOO worth it!"

Great book and it kept me on the edge of my seat! All I kept saying after the end was "no way, no way, no way!!!!" Once again, LOVED IT!
