Joe Pickett's in his last week as the temporary game warden in the town of Baggs, Wyoming, but there have been strange things going on in the mountains, and his conscience won't let him leave without checking them out: reports of camps looted, tents slashed, elk butchered. And then there's the runner who simply vanished one day. Joe doesn't mind admitting that the farther he rides, the more he wishes he could just turn around and go home.

Her name is Clara Rinker, a southern woman, trim, pleasant, attractive, and the best hit woman in the business. She isn't showy; she just goes quietly about her business, collects her money, and goes home. It's when she's hired for a job in Minnesota that things become complicated for her. A defense attorney wants a rival eliminated, and that's fine. But then a witness survives, the attorney starts acting weird, this big cop Davenport gets on her case, and loose ends begin popping up faster than on an unraveling sweater

Just not a lot here, didn't really care about any of the people involved, and Lucas - well he is just out there bonking along....pretty thin. Although I may buy a Lady Remington electric razor. ;-)

When you're the best at what you do, it's not always easy to walk away. Nathan McBride was retired. The trained Marine sniper and covert CIA operative had put the violence of his former life behind him. But not anymore. A deep-cover FBI agent has disappeared along with one ton of powerful Semtex explosive, enough to unleash a disaster of international proportions. The U.S. government has no choice but to coax Nathan out of retirement.

A little more violence, torture than I am comfortable with, but wowzer!

[SPOILER ALERT] I started with the third/last book, and was glad I did because I
knew that some of my favorite people from this first book made it to the end, and I wasn't sure they would! Phew!

Justin and Libby Denbe have the kind of life you’d find in the pages of a glossy magazine: A beautiful 14-year-old daughter. A gorgeous brownstone on a tree-lined street in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. A great marriage, admired by all. A perfect life. When investigator Tessa Leone arrives at the crime scene in the foyer of the Denbes’ home, she finds scuff marks on the floor and a million tiny pieces of bright green Taser confetti. The family appears to have been abducted.

They call me the Spider. I'm the most feared assassin in the South -- when I'm not busy at the Pork Pit cooking up the best barbecue in Ashland. As a Stone elemental, I can hear everything from the whispers of the gravel beneath my feet to the vibrations of the soaring Appalachian Mountains above me. My Ice magic also comes in handy for making the occasional knife. But I don't use my powers on the job unless I absolutely have to. Call it professional pride.

I am embarrassed to admit that I purchased most of this series - hoping against hope that it would get thicker. By the time you have read the third book you have reheard the first and second books twice...the retelling does not help. Ms. Estep has a great idea here, I love the duality with our own world, but....well I want a whole story, not a rehash of what has been before...In all I would suggest read a couple, maybe towards the end, (you won't miss anything), then move on to something new.

My current mission is personal: annihilate Mab Monroe, the Fire elemental who murdered my family, which means protecting my identity, even if I have to conceal my powerful Stone and Ice magic when I need it most."

It's been said before, and like Ms. Estep, I guess it needs to be said again, the concept is fun,and has a lot of potential, but the story lines are thin. The repetition of back ground material and what has gone before ruined this series for me. Just read the last one and you will know all that has gone before. drat.

Wow. This was my first Andrew Peterson, will back track to pick up books 1 and 2 of the McBride, then on forward. Love Dick Hill, started with him on the Lee Child/Jack Reacher books, it's not just Reacher that he does so well. Did a listen to Gray Man to get me over last of Reacher books, disappointed. But this BLEW MY SOX OFF!
