This story is incredibly impressive in that more than 90 percent focuses on a lost little girl in the New England woods - yet there is constant dialogue and suspense. The story is a pared-down, simple psychological study of what happens when we are lost and no one can save us, except ourselves.
With weak writing, one-dimensional characters, and a loose plotline, this book is an example of bad literature. To make matters worse, it is full of profanity and slang that is demeaning to women. All in all, 'Sideways' is a crude book about a pair of loser guys who head to the wine country to pick up "chicks." Their escapades are not worth the paper they're written on.
