Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

I absolutely loved this story!! I couldn't stop listening to it. Trust me, take the time to listen to this story. It's heartwarming, funny, reflective and exciting all rolled into one. I give it TWO THUMBS UP!!

  • The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty: The First of the Classic Erotic Trilogy of Sleeping Beauty

In the traditional folktale of Sleeping Beauty, the spell cast upon the lovely young princess and everyone in her castle can only be broken by the kiss of a Prince. It is an ancient story, one that originally emerged from and still deeply disturbs the mind's unconscious. Now Anne Rice's retelling of the Beauty story probes the unspoken implications of this lush, suggestive tale by exploring its undeniable connection to sexual desire.

I love Anne Rice's work, but this story just wasn't to my liking. I guess I'm a prude. But... if you're into S&M, this might be a good read, I mean 'listen'. It's just not for me.
