Most fantasy genre stories that aren't too cerebral, or quite frankly easily boring ... easily have either way too much magical reality or fighting and action. This coming of age story is a well crafted balance. Its fanciful elements and adventures leave it quite entertaining without really ever going over the top. Not too deeply contemplative, yet still with tenets that leave one with questions worth reflecting in thought.
A worthy read for old and young alike ... well, not too young. A worthwhile read in my opinion, better than many much more popularly sung.
