Three words: Star Wars zombies. Not else to need saying. But hey, since I'm already here, I can tell you that this is a great story, you are truly scared and eager to know what the character's outcome will be. And let me tell you, the story is centered around two main characters from the movies, plus some likeable new ones... and while you are sure the movie characters will survive, nothing is set in stone for the new ones. This is a great work of art, and the general ambient from the production is magnificent. Even the chapter transitions are sure to make you jump off your chair. If you like Star Wars get this book. If you like horror, get this book. Now!
Several people had recommended the book, and well, you can't beat the price, so I had to download it, sync to my iPhone and play it through the home theater speakers with my wife... we were both laughing hard, and crying at the same time since it's the same old story with our daughter!!!
If you have a preschooler, and don't mind occasional swearing, you must listen to this!!!
As a horror novel, I feel that Red Harvest doesn't work in the same sense as Death Troopers did.
But don't get me wrong, it still is one of the best Star Wars novels I've ever encountered... lots of great action, suspense, drama... but, not horror... Give it a try, you won't regret it, but definitely, if you have missed Death Troopers, go for it!
Jonathan Davis shines while narrating, but not much can be done about the weak story... while the original Force Unleashed was a good story full of plot twists, revenge, betrayal and adventure, this sequel reads as just traveling from point A to point B, with nothing more than select appearances from established characters... plus, from the ending of the novel it's implied that a last sequel (hopefully) is due. I hope that they polish that last one a bit more...
I'm impressed by the quality of Randomhouse Star Wars productions and this one is not the exception. Though the story may not be as fantastic as other tales in the same universe, is a compelling one and well written.
But it is the great narration by Jonathan Davis that made me keep listening through the audio book... it certainly is a pleasure. Consider having this book in your library.
It is incredible how Karen Traviss took a decent movie into a great story, providing insight on the less known characters, specially the clones that are her specialty. Even though you may know the outcome from the movie, you are sitting on the edge of the chair because of this masterful adaptation. And not only the story, but the general production of the audiobook excels at conveying you are in the Star Wars universe. Jeff Gurner is a superb narrator and his voice work is astonishing. I highly recommend this book.
