In her past, Cheryl Dunning died once. A violent act killed her, but heroics brought her back. Now, if she can't save herself from two serial killers hunting her in the Maine woods, she's about to die again, this time from two men armed with a Bible, guns, a deep belief in God, and their twisted interpretation of his word. Fueled by their righteous fury, they are determined to find Cheryl and murder her for what they perceive as her "life's worth of sins." What they don't know is what Cheryl knows.

What does R. C. Bray bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    awesome awesome awesome voice!

    Any additional comments?

This story was so absorbing. I listened to it on the way to work and then clock watched until lunch so I could hear more, took it to the gym and then sat in the car for half an hour so I could finish it. I was so caught up in Cheryl that I finished this book in one day.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was a cute story, but time would have been better spend reading it.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I liked the story, but the narrator made is difficult. She reminded me of being in high school English and having someone read a passage from the text book. Very little emotion, pauses in the wrong spots ad stumbles. I think this would be much better if it had read it vs. listened to it.

Reluctant lawyer, Jamie Quinn, still reeling from the death of her mother, is pulled into a game of deception, jealousy, and vengeance when her cousin, Adam, is wrongfully accused of murder. It's up to Jamie to find the real murderer before it's too late. It doesn't help that the victim is a former rock star with more enemies than friends, or that Adam confessed to a murder he didn't commit.

What did you love best about Death by Didgeridoo?

The family coming together in support of Adam.

What did you like best about this story?

    Duke ... Duke is awesome.

What didn’t you like about Carrie Lee Martz’s performance?

There was nothing to like about her performance.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

A the mother of aspergers child, I did not like the way the narrator portrayed Adam. HOWEVER, I do like the way the author wrote him, very well done and fairly accurate.

Truth is, I'm the kind of person you'd ask for directions if you were lost, or tell your life story to while waiting in line at the grocery store, which has happened on more than one occasion, believe me." Where does If You'd Just Listened to Me in the First Place... rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's a cute short story, it would rate in the upper tier of short stories

What other book might you compare If You'd Just Listened to Me in the First Place... to and why?

I don't know if there is another book I'd compare it to, but I would certainly compare it to a few ladies that I know LOL

Would you listen to another book narrated by Carrie Lee Martz?

I would. I'm not sure about her Louisiana accent though, sounded more from Georgia (too picky? ;-))

Who was the most memorable character of If You'd Just Listened to Me in the First Place... and why?

Cap'n Jack is by far the most memorable. Although my dad does not live on the Bayou (he's about 3 hours Northwest of Covington), my dad and Cap'n Jack could be the same guy!

The great cataclysm wiped almost all life from the face of planet Earth, but tiny pockets of survivors crawled from the ashes, with only one thought: survival, at any cost. But not all survivors were human. In the dark, militant society that has risen in the aftermath, vampires, once thought to be mythical, have been assimilated and enslaved. Used for blood sport their lives are allowed to continue only for the entertainment of the masses.

What is it about guys with guitars in their hands that makes them so irresistible, even when they are obviously self-centered jerks? If Abby and Maggie could answer that question, maybe they could finally get over Nathaniel. There's just something about him when he picks up his guitar and gets behind the microphone, something that makes sensible women act like teenyboppers instead of rational, self-respecting adults.

But mystery and murder are not confined to the stage, especially when the death of Concordia's sister, Mary, appears to be foul play. To make matters worse, the women's college is plagued by malicious pranks, arson, money troubles, and the apparent suicide of a college official.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was. The story was a little tedious at times but overall pretty good. I had the why part of the mystery figured out from the beginning the who part I thought I did, but was wrong!

If you’ve listened to books by K.B. Owen before, how does this one compare?

This is the first one, I'm hoping the second one is on audible soon.

What about Becket Royce’s performance did you like?

She has the perfect voice for this book/time period. Late 19th Century upper-crust voice!
