Tender Branson, the last surviving member of the so-called Creedish Death Cult, is dictating his life story into the flight recorder of Flight 2039, cruising on autopilot at 39,000 feet somewhere over the Pacific Ocean. He is all alone in the airplane, which will crash shortly into the vast Australian outback. But before it does, he will unfold the tale of his journey from an obedient Creedish child and humble domestic servant to an ultra-buffed, steroid-and-collagen-packed media messiah.

After reading the reviews on this book I thought what the heck, why not give it a read. I did and I'm not disappointed. Even though we knew the ending at the start it was a fun getting there. I will now search more by this author.

This was an absolutely amazing book! I have always liked Frankenstein and felt so sorry for the monster. In this book he gets a second chance, a chance to be a normal person with friends, career, family, etc.

The writing was great and the narrator was even better. I honestly think this would be better listened to then read. IMO it would not have touched me the way it did if I didnt hear it.

This has become one of my favorite books and I will look for more by this author and the narrator!

It's part of the Gift I was born with as a child of the Nightside - the hidden heart of London where it's always three a.m., where inhuman creatures and otherworldly gods walk side-by-side in the endless darkness of the soul. I enjoyed this book despite the narrator being wishy washy. There was something about him though that held my attention. I liked the characters especially the homeless poet. While at times the story was predictable it was still enjoyable.

From the author of the acclaimed and provocative novels Fallen and The Preservationist comes a tale about a man who believes he is touched by the hand of God – then instructed by that God to slaughter his enemies. It is the story of "this worldly existence of men and brutes, desire and unkindness" and of the woman, Dalila, at the center of it all.

Nik says: "Maine did it again."

I enjoyed this book. Samson has always been one of my favorite biblical figures and hearing his story told from his side was enjoyable. Yes, there is a bit of sex, lots of blood and if these things offend you it's not for you. All that aside, it's not the bible story I read my boys when they were little but it's still a story that has a great lesson to be learned in it. Narrator is great too!
