The story was more than disappointing. Slow to start, dragged on and on, boring. The performance was mediocre at best. I expected more from Terry Brooks.
Absolutely. Most of his books have hit the mark and kept my interest.
Yes. His characters voices were ... irritating.
I couldn't listen to the whole thing. My mind wandered. I usually listen while working in the garden or doing house work and I found myself having to go back to re-listen because my mind wandered.
It's starting to sound the same! The senator is always cranky. The captain of the Dauntless is always awestruck. Black Jack is having the same struggles. Are we going somewhere with this?
I thought surely it can't be as bad as the reviews given. Well it can. It was. The struggles in the relationship were not, in my opinion, met with an appropriate culmination. The story is too drawn out, the characters are too unhappy and the ending is un-satisfying. Not a match for the two previous books. If they make book 3 into a movie I hope it looks nothing like the book.
Have loved this book and have been reading it since I was a very young girl. Tolkien is an exceptional writer and Inglis brings his characters to life beautifully. Will listen to this performance over and over again as long as my devices will play them.
