This book started out interesting, then got weird, then got unbelievable, then got really good! You have to turn off your reality filters for this one though. Suarez goes way more sci-fi than he usually does. Once you accept this it is a fun read!
I love the characters in this series and the dialog can be fantastic the only thing missing in this one is a story worth reading. It started out interesting but I got about half way through and it became pointless dribble. I gave up on it. I highly doubt I will finish it or read any more of the series. On to something more interesting.... Ooh look this paint is drying over here. Michael Page is brilliant in his narration at least.
Having heard such good things about this series I decided to give it a try. So far I think it is a bit overrated. The characters seem unrealistic in their temperaments and choices at times. The storyline is a bit weak too. I still enjoyed it but I guess I was a bit disappointed. I will continue the series though so I guess it is good enough. The audio performance is very well done at least.
This is an odd story. If you go into it thinking it is going to be something along the lines of the kingkiller chronicles you will be disappointed. It is the tale of a few days into one of the characters who is very strange. The story doesn't have any true objective beyond that insight into how the character thinks and behaves. That having been said I enjoyed it for what it was and did not dislike it for what it wasn't.
Decent. Very predictable like the last one and the author is still filling in words to try and stretch the story unnecessarily. It is almost like the author came up with a story for a book and is trying to make that into a series. Goodkind is definitely going downhill. Maybe he needs to write a completely original series and move on from this one. I will still read him because I have invested this much but it is not as enjoyable a journey as it has been in the past.
This book is kind of like a cross between Yellow Submarine and Baron Munchausen. Very strange but enjoyable. I would have given it 4 stars but the author had a tendency to ramble on about trivial stuff and it detracted from the story. For example at one point he is reading off a list of species and he just goes on and on and on well beyond my caring. The book also comes up short on plot at times. Overall though it was an enjoyable book. Pinchot is fantastic in his narration.
This is a really good one! Very imaginative and original. The characters were interesting. A great debut novel!
It is a great story with interesting characters and some good plot twists. I probably would have given it five stars but the author's constantly switching timelines were a bit annoying. They really killed the momentum of the story and as you were getting into a part of it then the author would switch. Still enjoyable though and it won't stop me from reading more in the series.
It was a decent book. Not great but not bad. I would say it wasn't one of spider's best. I liked the story and the characters but I had a hard time getting into it. By the end though it turned out to be better than it started.
Good characters. Interesting concepts. Poor execution of the plot. I gave it 3 but I am probably being generous. 2.5? At least it was good enough to finish the whole thing. Pinchot did a great job narrating though.
