Detective Alex Cross is a family man at heart--nothing matters more to him than his children, his grandmother, and his wife Bree. His love of his family is his anchor, and gives him the strength to confront evil in his work. One man knows this deeply, and uses Alex's strength as a weapon against him in the most unsettling and unexpected novel of James Patterson's career.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Probably someone who is NOT an Alex Cross fan....or has never read a book in the series.

What was most disappointing about James Patterson’s story?

The last 2 chapters.....I probably would not have been so upset if I read the reviews before I listened to it. This is the first time I have ever stopped a book near the end and looked up reviews. There were 2,999, all Patterson fans, who were as upset and disappointed as I was.....I feel like I was listening to an old Radio Weekly Mystery Series "tune in next week(book) for the conclusion"...with the Million of Cross Series fans, most who preorder, was it really necessary to leave us hanging?? Really????

    Any additional comments?

    Need I say more???

Guided by the wind and aided by three charmed axes won from the River God, the Woodcutter begins his hunt, searching for clues in the whispering dominions of the enchanted unknown. Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. I enjoy fantasy fiction. I also love the woods, and nature.....what an amazing find for me. Listening helps me to escape the everyday problems.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Woodcutter?

When I realized characters from children's fairy tales were integrated into the story...it was a wonderful surprise. I hadn't thought of those stories for years!

Have you listened to any of Sarah Coomes’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I never listened to her before. Actually I looked for other titles she narrated and I don't think they are for me. I think some of the reviewers were harsh. Some voices were beautiful and fit the characters. I always think it is difficult for any man or woman reader, to do the opposite sex. I have actually stopped listening to several books because the narration was really irritating to listen to. I think she did a good job.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, but I did find myself wanting to listen more and more. It did make me smile a lot,

    Any additional comments?

I truly enjoyed this book. It is not Watership Down, but I found it more interesting then "The Bees"! The fact that I am taking time to write a review, means that I liked it!,,, I listen to a lot of audiobooks and don't always take the time to write a review.

Would you listen to The Cruelest Month again? Why?

I love this narrator so much. I have difficulty with remembering/separating some of the French names of characters, so I found myself having to replay some parts near the end.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Cruelest Month?

I am now fascinated about the drawings found in the French caves and will have to look that up for more details. I love how the characters in 3 Pines are developing!

What does Ralph Cosham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I would never be able to enjoy READING this book, because I would spend too much time in my head trying to say the names. I only found this series because I looked up everything R. Cosham has narrated.....his voice and the fluidity...what can I say! Now I am obsessed and can't wait to start the next one in the series...thank you Mr. Cosham!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes I want to go to 3 Pines......it's like when I listen to him read Watership Down, I become a rabbit!

When Jonathan Argyll is arrested for breaking into an obscure church in Rome, he claims that it contains a long-lost Raphael hidden under a painting by Mantini. The painting disappears - then reappears in the hands of the top British art dealer, Edward Byrnes. How has Byrnes found out about the hidden masterpiece, and whom is he acting for? There is also the curious matter of the safe deposit box full of sketches closely resembling features of the newly discovered painting.

If you could sum up The Raphael Affair in three words, what would they be?

    Interesting art history!

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the historical facts about great masters and how they were painted over so they could get out of Italy...very interesting detail. It reminded me of Dan Brown books!
I didn't know this author's work, I only ordered it because it was read by Ralph Cosham!
Fortunately I enjoyed the story as well!

Have you listened to any of Ralph Cosham’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I only ordered it because of the reader! I fell in love with his voice when listening to Watership Down (one of my favorite books of all time). I also just finished listening to him read "Return of Sherlock Holmes"...I think he could read the back of a cereal box and make it sound fascinating! I am about to start "Still Life". Again I never heard of this author but ordered it because Ralph Cosham is the reader!
I Wish I Could Find More Books Read by Him!

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote of many dreadful murders, but the one which astonished and distressed readers the most was when the author, anxious to try something new, killed off Sherlock Holmes. Trapped in mortal combat with the dastardly Professor Moriarty, Holmes and his opponent plunged to their deaths in the Reichenback Fall. For 10 long years, Baker Street was without its most revered resident. Then, in 1903, Doyle took pity on his readers and brought the sagacious sleuth back to life.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I love Sherlock Holmes....have read and reread for years. Even enjoy the newer tv versions...I know every story by heart, BUT it is Ralph Cosham's voice which makes this so awesome.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

    I already know every story!

What about Ralph Cosham’s performance did you like?

I love his British accent and you can still understand every word! I am an avid audio book listener so the reader is important to me! Instead of looking for books by my favorite authors, I have been searching and listening to anything that lists him as the reader, unfortunately I wish there were many more :(

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes

    Any additional comments?

Where does Watership Down rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This audio book is at the top of my list. I have loved this book since I first read it many moons ago. Ralph Cosham is a wonderful reader! I will be downloading other books he has narrated. This book is a must have!

What does Ralph Cosham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Some of the names are difficult to read or pronounce...he makes it flow so smoothly...you feel like you are right there and his voice is so soothing!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

A movie could never give it justice, I believe a director/producer/screenwriter would take away the true feeling that reading and listening to this book gives you!

    Any additional comments?

I am certain the author would be thrilled with this reader, just as his children were when he told it to them!

In the spring of 1865, the bloody saga of America's Civil War finally comes to an end after a series of increasingly harrowing battles. President Abraham Lincoln's generous terms for Robert E. Lee's surrender are devised to fulfill Lincoln's dream of healing a divided nation. But one man and his band of murderous accomplices are not appeased....

Refreshing..enjoyable. Not the usual David Baldacci suspense novel.(no spies or killing) .It's a feel good, perfect holiday listen to lift your spirits. I listen to it on long drives or when I am baking for the holidays. It truly is my favorite audio book of all time. I love Baldacci, Patterson and old Patricia Cornwall Scrarpetta suspense/mystery books. Tim Matheson's narration is great.Just wish Baldacci would write another one...
