  • The Amityville Horror

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 27 mins)
    • By Jay Anson
    • Narrated By Ray Porter

In December 1975, the Lutz family moved into their new home on suburban Long Island. George and Kathleen Lutz knew that, one year earlier, Ronald DeFeo had murdered his parents, brothers, and sisters in the house, but the property - complete with boathouse and swimming pool - and the price were too good to pass up. This is the shocking true story of an American dream that turned into a nightmare beyond imagining for the Lutz family, who were forced to flee their new home in terror.

    JRM says: "Maybe, Maybe Not"

The suspense is was suspenseful from the very first page to the last.

Yes he did a very good job and his voice added to the suspense and tension with each character.

The constant reminder that it was based on a true story and the character in the book were real people.

  • A Discovery of Witches

    • UNABRIDGED (24 hrs and 2 mins)
    • By Deborah Harkness
    • Narrated By Jennifer Ikeda
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Deep in the stacks of Oxford's Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library.

    Tim says: "True Blood PG13"
"A little slow at first but is an EXCELLENT book!"
Where does A Discovery of Witches rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is definitely in my top 5.

What other book might you compare A Discovery of Witches to and why?

If I had to compare it to anything I would say "The Historian" because it is a story about a strong, intelligent female character with a great love for history and is tangled up in a supernatural world that she doesn't believe she should be apart of. There is romance in the story but never seems to diminish the characters or story line.

Which character – as performed by Jennifer Ikeda – was your favorite?

Diana was of course excellent but for some reason the voice that embodied a character the best to me was Isabo or Emily.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes definitely

    Any additional comments?

This book is one of my favorites, the story had everything a good story has: comedy, educational information, supernatural, suspense, romance and everything in between. In addition to that Jennifer Ikeda is an amazing orator, just when I think theres no way she could come up with another voice she does and it always perfectly embodies the characters and makes them so identifiable.

  • Island of the Sequined Love Nun

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 39 mins)
    • By Christopher Moore
    • Narrated By Oliver Wyman
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Take a wonderfully crazed excursion into the demented heart of a tropical paradise - a world of cargo cults, cannibals, mad scientists, ninjas, and talking fruit bats. Our bumbling hero is Tucker Case, a hopeless geek trapped in a cool guy's body, who makes a living as a pilot for the Mary Jean Cosmetics Corporation.

    Benjamin says: "redeeming light thriller"
    "Excellent and hilarious listen."
If you could sum up Island of the Sequined Love Nun in three words, what would they be?

    Hilarious, Well-Read, Unique.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Island of the Sequined Love Nun?

Tucker crashing the bright pink plane.

What does Oliver Wyman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He does an amazing job with all the different voices and really made the characters come to life.

Who was the most memorable character of Island of the Sequined Love Nun and why?

Definitely a tie between Mary Jean and Kimi.

    Any additional comments?

A wonderful book and definitely worth a listen and a read!!
