Out of the Joe Ledger DMS books, I would rate this somewhere in the middle. The story did pull me in more and more as it progressed, but I must confess, I prefer the invincible Church and DMS, riding to the rescue.
I have to approach it from the end, I don't really have a favorite, but Aunt Sally is my least favorite good guy. Mayberry does a great job with Ghost, I almost forget he's a dog.
My pulse was racing toward the end, I was wondering if they would actually save the day. Considering the warehouse was destroyed in the book, I wasn't so sure
I know an occasional long term character has to die from time to time and things can't run smoothly for the DMS all of the time, but, come on, Church and the DMS are the good guys, give them a break. I did enjoy the bit of back story on Who, made him seem a bit more human.
I own the first book in the series, on audio, listened to it some time ago, it was okay, but not great. Was looking for something to listen to while doing paperwork so decided to try the second. It was better, a light fun read not requiring a ton of concentration. A little heavy on the different types of werewolves, seemed a tad bit of overkill, but flowed well, engaging characters, a bit of a twist with Tara, all in all great fun.
