Twice Claire has used an ancient stone circle to travel back to the 18th century. The first time she found love with a Scottish warrior but had to return to the 1940s to save their unborn child. The second time, 20 years later, she reunited with her lost love but had to leave behind the daughter that he would never see. Now Brianna, from her 1960s vantage point, has found a disturbing obituary and will risk everything in an attempt to change history.

A bit more sex in this one, than the last episodes, but I loved it so much I didn't want it to end. One of those books you can't put down. Had me searching for period dress patterns, just to see what they were running around in!

This, the second part, is just as good as the first. Another book I listened to straight through and have now added the 3rd to my Wish List.

Paris Never Leaves You is full of fascinating characters: models, vintners, poets, and especially artists and those who fawn on them and prey on them. Their glittering world forms the backdrop for a modern-day Cinderella story. A stunned Djuna Cortez has just inherited the estate of eccentric artist Joaquim Carlos Cortez - and learned that he is her grandfather. Barely 21, Djuna is soon overwhelmed by the City of Lights. She falls in love with a handsome winemaker who seems to be the man of her dreams, but discovers that she is living a nightmare. Isolated in the French countryside, Djuna finds salvation in reading her grandfather's journals which spin a mesmerizing tale of the young artist in 1930s Paris, facing with the rest of the city the advances of Nazi forces. From her grandfather's struggles and tragedies, Djuna gathers the strength to finally break free from her abusive husband and take the steps necessary to preserve her life, her sanity, her fortune, and her grandfather's powerful artistic legacy.

I can't quite work out if I really liked this one or not. I ended up wanting to skip over the bits narrated by the female character - the man was much more interesting! Probably better if you know the art works referred to, or the locations visited.
Both narrators did an excellent job though!

Hardly anyone ever leaves Des Moines, Iowa. But Bill Bryson did, and after 10 years in England he decided to go home, to a foreign country. In an ageing Chevrolet Chevette, he drove nearly 14,000 miles through 38 states to compile this hilarious and perceptive state-of-the-nation report on small-town America.

Lou says: "Bill's sophmoric, condescending journey"

As all the others he's released. Insightful and funny.

AD 3580. The Intersolar Commonwealth has spread through the galaxy to over a thousand star systems. It is a culture of rich diversity with a place for everyone. Even death itself has been overcome. But at the centre of the Commonwealth is a massive black hole. This Void is not a natural artefact. Inside there is a strange universe where the laws of physics are very different to those we know. It is slowly consuming the other stars of the galactic core - one day it will devour the entire galaxy.

I'm a huge fan already and can't wait for the rest of these great books to be recorded! I'm refraining from reading the next one in the series, so I can listen to it when it's released! No previous knowledge required.

For Oxford student Kivrin, traveling back to the 14th century is more than the culmination of her studies - it's the chance for a wonderful adventure. For Dunworthy, her mentor, it is cause for intense worry about the thousands of things that could go wrong.

Sara says: "A Haunting First Book in the Series"
    "It took a little while"

..for me to get into this one - the descriptions of 'modern day' feel so 1950's and a bit shallow! I feel inclined to read more about the Black Death now - the action in that period is great fun. Couldn't wait to get in the car and find out what happened next.

When nine-year-old orphan Georgia James is unexpectedly fostered by the kindly Celia and her bank manager husband, she can hardly believe her luck. But then - on her 15th birthday - she suffers the cruellest betrayal of all at the hands of her foster father and is forced to run away, leaving everything she loves behind.

    Leslie says: "Predictable but enjoyable"
    "Excellent"
    Overall

This is the second one I've listened to, by this lovely woman. Totally engaging! Vibrant descriptions of 1960's London - so good I thought I'd lived it myself. A bit predictable in places, but the main character is so lovable, I easily over looked it. Can't wait to start in on the next one.
