When reclusive war poet Olivia Marlowe and her half-brother, Nicholas Cheney, die together in their ancestral home on the Cornish coast, it looks like suicide. The grieving relatives gather together to discuss the fate of Barcombe Hall, when another shocking death occurs. Inspector Rutledge, who is still shell-shocked from his experiences in the Great War, is sent from Scotland Yard to investigate. Rutledge is soon convinced that the answers to this baffling case lie within the family’s secret history.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes The story was good but I would probably recommend in book format.

What did you like best about this story?

Main character. He is honest and caring. Truth is his main goal.

What didn’t you like about Samuel Gillies’s performance?

Sometimes it was difficult to distinguish which character is speaking. I didn't care for the voices he gave to certain characters while others had the same voice. Certain section I had to repeat a couple of times.

Do you think Wings of Fire needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No, the story seemed complete except you were not sure if the bad guy carried out his threat. Perhaps that will be in the next novel. I liked the story.

The 1895-96 season promises to be an exceptional one for Amelia Peabody, her dashing Egyptologist husband Emerson, and their wild and precocious eight-year-old son, Ramses. The much-coveted burial chamber of the Black Pyramid in Dahshur is theirs for the digging. But the brazen moonlight abduction of Ramses - and an expedition subsequently cursed by misfortune and death - have alerted Amelia to the likely presence of her arch nemesis, the Master Criminal, notorious looter of the living and the dead.

Where does Lion in the Valley rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Narrator is very good. I like her better than BRosenblat and wish she would have read the remaining books. She keeps the story flowing.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

    Love the characters!

What does Susan O'Malley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

A good interpretation of Amelia Peabody.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Red Door to be better than the print version?

This reader does a good job. I like his voice - and thereby the voice he gives the inspector.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Great plot. Good story. Nicely written. Multiple issues being addressed by the same person during the same time period.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes

    Any additional comments?

    Worth it.

Dorset is the latest setting for the talents of Inspector Ian Rutledge, a veteran of the First World War still haunted, literally, by his actions. Indeed, his personal ghost only serves to complicate things as his inner doubts blend into the trauma of the case.

Mila Voss is dead. That’s what the team hired to terminate her had reported, and that’s how her file had been marked. Dead. Six years now. So why did she suddenly show up on a hotel’s security camera in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania? Those who’d paid for her elimination are more than a little curious. One person should know what happened—Jonathan Quinn, one of the best cleaners in the business, the man who’d been tasked with the disposal of her body. Only Quinn isn’t exactly easy to get ahold of these days.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The reader did his usual good job.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Something missing in the story-line. I cannot figure out what.

Do you think The Destroyed needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Not necessarily. Knowing when to stop is important. I will miss the character.

    Any additional comments?

I wish I could figure out why I'm not satisfied with the book but I have not been able to do that. Perhaps because it seems that Jonathan turned out to be more of a wimp than fits his character development. I like how Nat took up the his mentor's name. That was a good move.

Winner of the Quill Award and the Corine International Book Prize, Diana Gabaldon is the #1 New York Times best-selling author of the Outlander series. This fourth novel featuring popular character Lord John Grey is told both from Lord Grey’s perspective and from that of Jamie Fraser, the star of the Outlander series.

Would you listen to The Scottish Prisoner again? Why?

I would listen to this book again. Ms Gabaldon puts so much into each story that it requires a second listening / reading just to make sure you didn't miss something important. A small thing now could be developed into something in the next book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character is James Frazier. Big surprise. I enjoy that she has made him an honorable, trustworthy, loyal person/spouse. He is exactly the friend you would want.

Which character – as performed by Jeff Woodman and Rick Holmes – was your favorite?

Both gentlemen did a great job.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I would have to read the book again to properly answer this question.

Evanovich fans rejoice! Stephanie Plum is back in town, along with her sidekick Lula, her Grandma Mazur, and an ever-widening cast of freaks, criminals, deranged felons, and lunatics looking for love. And just when Stephanie thinks her life can't get any more complicated, in walks the mysterious Diesel. A man who seems to show up at the most inconvenient moments.

JoAnn Marcon says: "Classic Stephanie Plum"
    "Plum Spooky"
    Overall

Ms King did her usual outstanding job. I feel this was not Ms Evanovich's best. Her books are quite enjoyable and I've listened to each, in order, from the 1 to 15. Good character development/growth throughout (a tad disappointed going from 10 to 11). I also would like to see the first books re-recorded by Ms. King but understand that it is most likely not practical.
