Absolutely. Just a nice story. Fun to listen to, and I would recommend Katherine Kellgren any day!
Katherine Kellgren's many voices. She is always superb!
I can't remember exactly. I smiled and giggled all the way through.
No, it was just fun!
After it got going, and I got used to Fannie Flagg's narration (which I admit, took me a while), I REALLY enjoyed the story. The back story set in the 30's and 40's was my favorite part, and the parts (much of it based in fact) about the WASPs. I was raised by parents of "The Greatest Generation", and I never tire of learning what sacrifices they all made.
There were many, but I loved Fritzy taking the jerk instructor for a heckuva ride!
The gals can do it just as well, if not better, than the guys!
And this SHOULD be made into a movie. It has a lot of the charm that "Fried Green Tomatoes" has...which, I adore. (book AND movie)
There is no doubt about it, Fannie Flagg can tell a great story! The longer I listened, the more I began to love it. This is the second book I've listened to about the WASPs (the other I liked as well, "Velva Jean Learns To Fly") It makes me want to learn more about them.
I was sad when this book ended. I feel like I know all "the gals", and wanted to keep listening.
I'm really not enjoying this audiobook at all. I think it's the narrator, because I know this is a classic. I'm switching to the printed version to finish the book.
I haven't been able to get into any character. The narrator is really not good at different voices and accents. The book is just dragging on.
Katherine Kellgren or a better narrator.
Possibly. I just didn't enjoy this book as much as I thought I was going to, based on the reviews comparing it to "The Help". It's nowhere NEAR as good. You don't begin to love the characters, and it feels a bit preachy.
I can't come up with a Most Interesting.
Least Interesting - the main character. Just a bratty kid that drove me nuts.
It almost inspired me to stop listening.
Actually, I liked that I learned more about the female pilots of WWII than I had known. I didn't expect to get that much history, and it makes me want to learn more.
Velva Jean, of course!
I don't normally listen to a book more than once.
I enjoyed all of the characters.
No. I enjoyed him though.
This was my first Edward Rutherford book and I really enjoyed the history wrapped into the fiction. I learned quite a bit. I'm moving on to another Rutherford book now, "New York".
The narrator. Absolutely horrible. I listen to audiobooks almost exclusively, and I have never bought a book with a narrator this bad.
I will never know because I can't finish it. The narrator has ruined it for me...and I LOVE Hiaasen's books!
Wrong accents. Wrong inflection. Just wrong everything. Very distracting.
I wish I could get my 1 credit back!
The story and "who-dun-it" was a lot of fun, but Katherine Kellgren's performance was stellar!
I loved that the story was set around an old, traditional, English Christmas. I felt like I was there!
They are all brilliant, but my favorite is Queenie!
Katherine Kellgren's "Queenie" makes me laugh out loud!
This may be Rhys Bowen's best, and I didn't think Katherine Kellgren could get any better, but she knocks this one out of the park! She seemlessly jumps back and forth between many characters, with many different accents. You eventually forget you are listening to just one narrator.
No, I don't usually listen to books twice...but I LOVE Jacky Faber!
Katherine Kellgren is, without a doubt, one of the best voice artists ever! She IS Jacky Faber. I seek out books narrated by Katherine.
No, only because I hate it when the book is over, so I stretch them out.
This may not be the best in the Jacky Faber series, but I enjoyed it very much. Jacky has become like an old friend and I very much enjoy her adventures. She is my favorite literary heroine and I will continue to buy as long as L.A Meyer continues to write!
Lots of fun, and I learned some Egyptian history! Katherine Kellgren is just a brilliant narrator. I seek out and listen to any book she narrates! On to Book 2!
