Abigail is more than ready for a change when she inherits a cottage from her beloved mentor, knitting guru Eliza Carpenter. Leaving the oppressive city for the greener pastures of a small California beach town, she intends to turn her cozy little windfall into a knitting shop and spend her days spinning, designing, and purling. But she’s not going to be welcomed with open arms by her new neighbor.

What did you like about this audiobook?

How it combined knitting with a love story

How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?

Abigail. She was so kind and sweet. She loved what I love knitting and spinning.

Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?

    Well read

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

    Yes

Do you have any additional comments?

Great book. Not one boring moment. Cade was not easily lovable and Abigail was very gracious through it all. The lovemaking scenes got a bit graphic and that would be my only complaint.

In A Thousand Lives, the New York Times best-selling memoirist Julia Scheeres traces the fates of five individuals who followed Jim Jones to South America as they struggled to first build their paradise, and then survive it. Each went for different reasons - some were drawn to Jones for his progressive attitudes towards racial equality, others were dazzled by his claims to be a faith healer. But once in Guyana, Jones' drug addiction, mental decay, and sexual depredations quickly eroded the idealistic community.

Very sad book to know these good people died for no reason.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    Adam

Have you listened to any of Fred Berman and Rick Adamson ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes

    Any additional comments?

This book I could not put down. It was so depressing but kept me wanting to listen to more and more. Once Chance and Adam became friends, I was beyond addicted. My heart broke for both their difficult lives and I still can not stop thinking of this book. So well done!
