This is a more ambitious story line than earlier books in the series...an interesting departure from the signature backdrop of the sports world... the plot was engrossing and the familiar characters true to form. But I missed Marosz as narrator. Weber is ok, but because for me, Jonathan Marosz is to Myron & Win what Will Patton is to Robicheaux & Clete, it took more than a few chapters to adjust to his interpretation of the characters.
First, the title had nothing to do with the story. No relevance. The story itself was a better than average one, but only gets one star because of the "ending"...seriously guys? I can't recommend this one, although I enjoy the Michael Bennett series, because there were too many dangling story lines, and they neglected to finish the book. I thought that my ipod had misfired. If this is a set-up for the next in the series, it's really a cheap way to sell a book.
In the series, yes.
Story, narration...all good ! highly recommend.... I started out reading the Spenser series years ago - but quickly came to like Jesse Stone, even better. This is my favorite in the series...
If Mantegna narrated all the Spenser series, I'd buy them all. This was a good story and although I missed Hawk a little - Sixkill made up for it. I bought a few of the series read by others and they weren't just bad, they were terrible. It would be fun to have Mantegna narrate the others..I can't even begin to listen to Rudnicki.
All in all this was a great listen and I was sorry when it ended...Parker will be missed!
The best Myron Bolitar novel yet! I just hope that this isn't the last in the series, as I'm not a fan of the "non-Bolitar" novels...
Good history with the ring of truth - a little slow in the beginning - but part II moved along and kept me listening...
Great story, credible, fast moving - I wanted it to never end. Highly recommend! I've read /listened to almost all of the Bosch and Haller series - and this one is my favorite one yet.
Classic Spenser. This one is all good...plot, characterizations, etc...and no one but Mantegna should ever narrate a Spenser novel. I like the Jesse Stone novels better, but this is really an enjoyable listen. Highly recommend!
This is as good as " Tin Roof"....so good that I never wanted it to end...Storyline is a really good one, Will Patton is great as always. This was well-worth the price. Highly recommend!
Highly recommend for all the usual reasons - great storyline, narrator...everything you expect from a Spenser listen. I can't listen to anyone but Mantegna read a Spenser novel. Won't even consider buying the others because the few I've tried, the narrators are a huge distraction. Please re-release them all with Mantegna!
My favorite Jesse Stone narrator, combined with the best of Parker, great series, great narrator and a good storyline that kept me listening all the way through....We'll miss you Parker, Spenser, Sunny and Stone...
