I have enjoyed several of Elizabeth Lowell's books. Her last one was boring and this one is as bad. The story is barely entertaining. but the narration ruins that. I have over 1,000 books in my audible library and I have yet to listen to one with such lackluster narration. Between the story and the bland narration, I had to force myself to get my credit's worth and finish the book. Elizabeth, what has happened?

J D Robb's last two books were not at all what I have come to expect, and I have listened to all the "In Death" series. This book was such a joy, as the plot was good and J D returned to her fun characters and her relationship with Rourke. All of Eve's usual "dislikes" such as parties, makeup, her skinny stick butler, and anyone who doesn't meet her exacting standards were amusingly portrayed. It was a relief to have J D return to the things that make her books so entertaining.

We love our sisters, right? It's just that sometimes we love them because of, and sometimes we love them in spite of. But when murder's the crime and solving's your line, sisters count on sisters. It's a family thing.

Three interesting women protagonists, an interesting mystery, and no in depth sex scenes. A good book in my opinion. This author understands what to write about and what to leave out to intrigue a reader over age 40.

Wonderful love story with a connection to WW11 and a present day love story. The writting is a little uneven in spots, but when it is good it is very good. There is family interaction and a wonderful sub-plot giving accolades and understanding to WW11 vets. I really enjoyed the tenderness of th character, Pops.

It's summer in Abbotsville, and Miss Julia has visions of enjoying a life of leisure. But before she can even sip some iced tea on her front porch, a letter from her long-lost cousin Elsie informs her that Elsie's granddaughter is on a bus headed to Abbotsville that very day. Reminding Miss Julia of an old family debt, Elsie proclaims that she is sending Trixie to Miss Julia's to learn to become a lady. The nerve of some people! When the rude and unkempt Trixie arrives, even Sam and Lloyd agree that Miss Julia faces quite a challenge.

I have listened to every book in this series. All of them have been well worth the credit. Miss Juia is a marvelous example of a Southern lady---only we know her real thoughts and rationalzations. This time around yet another relative arrives in her life to cause mayhem and hilarity. I often garner people's attention when listening anywhere I can be observed--chucking or laughing at yet another of Miss Julia's unusual situations. The characters in the books are well defined and the narration makes each character easily identifiable. Amusing story with great narration make this a well spent credit.

The first two books Captivated and Etranced were the best written and definately the best narrated of the four book series. Charmed and Enchanted were not quite as good but enjoyable. My main criticism is the male narrater on book 4, Enchanted. He is not very good, but I think this type of book is definately better narrated by a female . The first two books were much more entertaining to listen to with the wonderful narrater. I do enjoy a series, especially when the same narrater is used.

His latest real estate project is going to be on hold for a while, because by the time Eve and her crew are finished searching the premises, there are 12 murders to be solved.

After all the years I have listened to the In Death series, I never thought I would use the word bored in reviewing a book authored by her. Her last book was so violent that I couldn't believe it was in this series. Now this one is so boring for 14 hours it was unreal. Very little interaction between Eve and any of the wonderful characters she has previously featured in her books. The story is endlessly dull, and the usual stars, Eve and Rourke, barely seem to react to each other. Sorry that I wasted another credit!

For Lieutenant Eve Dallas of the NYPSD, the job is a useful reminder of what she has to be grateful for this season. Hosting Roarke's big Irish family for the holiday may be challenging, but it’s a joyful improvement on her own dark childhood. Other couples aren’t as lucky as Eve and Roarke. The Reinholds, for example, are lying on the floor of their Downing Street apartment, stabbed and bludgeoned almost beyond recognition. Those who knew them are stunned - and even more heartbroken by the overwhelming evidence that they were murdered by their own son.

I have listened to every J D Robb book and I have always enjoyed them and the way each character is presented by the wonderful narrater, Susan Erickson. On ocassion I have been unhappy with SOME gratuitous violence, but in Thankless in Death the amount of very intense graphic violence is overwhelming. This made the book almost unbearable to listen to. If I had not had complete confidence in Ms Robb's ability to tell an entertaining mystery with characters I have come to enjoy, I would not have purchased this book. I was very unhappy with Ms Robb's choice to write this book without any concern for her many readers who do not expect such violence in her books.

I had listened to Nancy Atherton's Aunt Dimity's first story years ago and always remembered how charming it was. So many years had gone by that I decided to listen to the first one again. It was as I remembered. Delightful! I have listened to the second book and it is equally enjoyable. These books are of a certain ilk, that if you don't listen well into the first one and understand the premise, you won't enjoy it or the next one. They are perhaps only for the kind of person who is looking for a charming book with funny moments. an enjoyable light mystery, and little or no violence. I have thoroughly enjoyed the first two books and am looking forward to more, Thanks Audible for the new format for coming soon books.
