Prince Liam. Prince Frederic. Prince Duncan. Prince Gustav. You've never heard of them, have you? These are the princes who saved Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Snow White, and Rapunzel, respectively, and yet, thanks to those lousy bards who wrote the tales, you likely know them only as Prince Charming. But all of this is about to change.

I thought the story would be more serious with epic battles and serious danger, so at first I was not finding the story engaging. However, when I realized that it was written more like "The Princess Bride" than "Conan the Barbarian," I found my self unexpectedly laughing out loud at some of the dialog. It does drag slightly, but I enjoyed it overall and couldn't wait to turn it back on when I got in the car.

When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, Mrs. Quine just thinks her husband has gone off by himself for a few days - as he has done before - and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home. But as Strike investigates, it becomes clear that there is more to Quine's disappearance than his wife realizes. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows.

Excellently written. The pacing is spot on. Some writers get so bound up in the details that they lose my interest, but Robert Galbraith has once again put forth an entirely entertaining book that kept me interested throughout. Robert Glenister's performance leaves nothing to be desired. He gives voice to the variety of characters with distinct differences making it easy to follow conversations as if i'm actually reading it myself.

I'm ready for the next one! This was written in 2011, I expect there's more on the horizon.

After losing his leg to a land mine in Afghanistan, Cormoran Strike is barely scraping by as a private investigator. Then John Bristow walks through his door with an amazing story: his sister, the legendary supermodel Lula Landry, famously fell to her death a few months earlier. The police ruled it a suicide, but John refuses to believe that. The case plunges Strike into the world of multimillionaire beauties, rock-star boyfriends, and desperate designers, and it introduces him to every variety of pleasure, enticement, seduction, and delusion known to man.

After discovering that the author is really JK Rowling, I read the reviews and decided to spend my new credit. I'm so glad I did. The story held my interest, the reader was very easy to listen to, the two main characters were completely likable. I started listening to it again the next day after I finished it because I wanted to see what I'd missed the first time around. I enjoyed it even more. Great book!

After their epic journey across Europe, Ayla and Jondalar have reached his home, the Ninth Cave of the Zelandonii, the old stone-age settlement in the region known today as southwest France. Jondalar's family greet him warmly, but they are initially wary of the beautiful young woman he has brought back, with her strange accent and her tame wolf and horses.

I almost didn't purchase this book because of the reviews talking about the new and obvious accent. Frankly I thought it was about time that she be read with some kind of accent since it's mentioned repeatedly. Maybe it was because I was forewarned, but it really didn't bother me at all. I would like to say that Sandra Burr has become a much better narrator since the first book. Her timing and tone have vastly improved and she puts much more emotion into it. I've read these books over and over again and there's simply nothing new to say about the story.

I am so disappointed in the narration of one of my favorite books. I have all the books in the Earth's Children series. I've read them so many times I almost know them by heart. Perhaps that's why this narrator's voice strikes me so wrong but her voice is high and her speech patterns almost juvenile sounding more like a Disney Princess than a strong young woman finding a way to survive the harsh prehistoric world.
If you can get past the voice, please give this book a chance. It's a wonderful story and beautiful well written series. It's worth your time.

This will be a short review because there are already so many that say it well. I hesitated to start this book due to a comment from another reviewer that the jumps between timeframes was not well handled and she found herself sometimes lost. I want to assure you that the time frames are well marked prior to the chapter and I didn't find it confusing at all. Don't hesitate, this is a great book!

I love listening to Larry Correia's work I have every book in the Monster Hunter series. His characters are not average folks you deal with every day, but they're not so quirky that you can't relate to them either. The timing and rhythm of the story flows very organically and I anticipate returning to it.
Larry is obviously knowledgeable about firearms and comfortable writing about them, but I didn't feel left out of the loop even though I know next to nothing about guns. This series and also the Grimnoire Chronicles are books I return to again and again when I'm without a new book.
Oliver Wyman is a very good narrator and the voices remain consistent from one book to the next.
This is truly one of my favorites series.
