In retired Delta Force officer Brad Taylor’s third Pike Logan thriller, a tentative peace between Israel and Palestine has been brokered by the United States. But the Taskforce - a clandestine team operating outside of US law to protect the country from terrorism - gets wind of an assassination attempt on the American envoy sent to solidify the treaty. The Taskforce must devote every resource to saving his life - and preventing another bloody outbreak of violence.

Would you ever listen to anything by Brad Taylor again?

Not sure. The third time was no charm. As I was invested in the characters, I reluctantly finished on a long drive. While I don't mind when plot lines cross and bend pack connecting dots across multiple books, this book goes a bit too far in having everything line up exactly perfect to form a complete circle.

Powerful dirty bombs explode minutes apart in San Francisco and St. Petersburg, Russia - slaughtering citizens and spreading blind panic throughout the world. But this is only a warning. The next attack will be nuclear.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Anyone other than Luke Daniels. His character voices translate to fingernails on a chalkboard. Very disappointed at the editing process to not recognize how bad his character voices are when compared to the first two books.

If you’ve listened to books by Marc Cameron before, how does this one compare?

Didn't finish. Going to read the text version

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Luke Daniels?

I would go back to Tom Weiner or Scott Brick

CIA counterterrorism operative Mitch Rapp falls prey to government forces with an agenda of their own after Dr. Irene Kennedy is named the successor to dying CIA Director Thomas Stansfield—a choice that enrages many inside the world’s most powerful intelligence agency. Her detractors will resort to extreme measures to prevent her from taking the reins—which makes Rapp an expendable asset. But Mitch Rapp is no one’s pawn, and he will stop at nothing to find out who has set him up.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

    Any other narrator.

What didn’t you like about Nick Sullivan’s performance?

When the end of the book said, Hope you have enjoyed listening to Audible.

    Any additional comments?

I decided to go back and "listen" to a few of the books in the Rapp series that I actually read first time through. It was a good thing I knew the story because if this was my first Audible book, I would have stopped halfway through.

Top operatives like Mitch Rapp should not sound like an elementary school librarian that is scarred of dust mite. However, the worst part has to be the narrator's failure to correctly annunciate the major characters names. It is a good thing Vince created such good characters and a story that kept me hitting the play button on my iPhone. It was also interesting to hear/see how Vince developed as an author when comparing the dialog and story with some of his early works. He will be missed.

Save the money, read the book on this one.

Action-packed from the start, Hidden Order demonstrates yet again why Brad Thor is the "master of thrillers". A string of high-profile kidnappings has Washington, D.C., in a frenzy. When the victims begin turning up dead, frenzy turns to panic. And when the ransom demand is finally made public, panic will turn to terror. In Brad Thor's riveting new thriller, the stakes have never been higher, nor the lines between good and evil so hard to discern.

The writing (performance) is written well enough given the plot and its twists, however, the basic plot just did not do it for me. It is not what we are accustomed to in a Horvath thriller. Even if you believe the plot, perhaps it would have been easier to finish if we had a new hero to read about instead of Horvath. I just wanted this one to end and I am happy to moving on to the new Ben Coes book. This one is worth skipping. Heck, another Athena team would have been better.

Drummond Clark was once a spy of legendary proportions. Now Alzheimer's disease has taken its toll and he's just a confused old man who's wandered away from home, waiting for his son to fetch him. When Charlie Clark takes a break from his latest losing streak at the track to bring Drummond back to his Brooklyn home, they find it blown sky high - and then bullets start flying in every direction.

What was most disappointing about Keith Thomson’s story?

It was a nice concept but it was just too painful to keep listening in and out of Drummonds episodes. I have seen the effects of Alzheimer's first hand with grandparents, and it is a horrible disease for which I am happy that Mr. Thomson brings it to the forefront. However, the amount of conspiracy theories that would have to be put in place after every scene is far too much to accept in anyone sitting. This is why I listened to the book over several 45 minute walks because I just couldn't take it. I still have 8 minutes left and I have no desire to finish.

A big big disappointment here. Frankly, while I am used to and generally enjoy Ted Bell's vivid descriptions and clever plots, this one is too far out there to put me in the edge of my seat wanting more.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I wanted to strangle Jennifer. Some of her reactions, given the situation and line of work, is completely off the mark. She trains for a year as an operative, and gets upset when too much violence is used on a terrorist? Seriously . . . While there are rules and ways to do things, she is just too emotional.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Ted Bell and Alex Hawk

Would you be willing to try another one of Henry Strozier and Rich Orlow ’s performances?

No - The original duo was much better.

Was All Necessary Force worth the listening time?

    No

For months, Mitch Rapp has been steadily working his way through a list of men, bullet by bullet. With each kill, the tangled network of monsters responsible for the slaughter of 270 civilians becomes increasingly clear. He is given his next target: a plump Libyan diplomat who is prone to drink and is currently in Paris without a single bodyguard. Rapp finds him completely unprotected and asleep in his bed. With confidence in his well-honed skills and conviction of the man’s guilt, he easily sends a bullet into the man’s skull. But in the split second it takes the bullet to leave the silenced pistol, everything changes.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I enjoy Mitch Rapp and all the characters as with all the other books I have purchased and listened to over the years. Finding out more about how they got started was nice and American Assassin did a great job. Since I am a fan of the series, I endured. This book is well written (preformed) however, it did feel like this book stalls many times with the collection of biographies on all the characters rather than sticking to the action. Since it is a prequel, you know Mitch (and all the other characters in the series) survive another day. However, knowing the background of one of the lessor character's father and childhood didn't add too much to the story except time. (filler pages)

I know the story takes place over three days or so, but more story would have been better.

It is not even close, this is my least favorite book of the series. Hopefully, Vince is doing better and November will bring another classic Mitch Rapp adventure.

What was most disappointing about Vince Flynn’s story?

The amount of biographical details on characters that don't matter too much.

Which character – as performed by George Guidall – was your favorite?

    All

Did Kill Shot inspire you to do anything?

    Writer a review.

    "Big Disappointment"
    Overall

This is not John Rain. While there seemed to be promise with a new uniquely skilled operator as with this genre, the characters just don't get there in the end.

Before I hit play, someone told me this book was horrible, but opinions vary. However, about half way in, I was still going strong and it did not seem bad at all. Candidly, I thought the comment was more about the plot since the person who gave me their opinion was not too technically savvy when it comes to computers and the technology that surrounds them.

As it turns out, they were right. As the end drew near, the book falls off a cliff. While sometimes endings are weak, this one just ruins the entire experience. I want my 10+ hours back.

However, the most irritating aspect of the book, aside from the ending, is the relationship between the two central characters who happen to be brothers. Having a younger brother I don't always agree with, I could identify with some of the inner strife in the beginning. However, if I told my brother you need to do this or you will get killed, I am one thousand percent sure, he would follow my advice. Especially, when I was skilled in the exact advice I was given. I am not sure if the author has any siblings, but I would conclude that the answer is no since he misses the mark. Fiction truly does apply here.

Stick to the Rain books Barry.

    Overall

Similar to watching a bad movie just wanting to get to the ending to see how the characters you have invested time in turn out, but you just cant make yourself do it. I had to buy the book and listen to it in my own voice as the narrator completely destroyed the story.

An english accent does not do an american fighter pilot justice no matter how talented one's voice could be. However, in this case, there is no talent as the narrator simply reads the story as he was in the third grade.

Sorry, I would pass on the audio. Buy the book.
