A trip to the mall gives Shelby the shock of her life when she finds an extra five million dollars in the bank account Uncle Joey set up for her. She thought he was out of her life for good, but with this fast money, she's not so sure. Now she must decide if she will tell her husband the truth that she can still read people's minds. Including his. How will he feel when he finds out she lied to him? When the Mexican Police tell her that Uncle Joey's been kidnapped and look to her for the ransom, she knows she's in big trouble.

    Story

The second book in the series is even better than the first, but you will need the first book to fully understand events in this book. I am very pleased to say this book turned around the things I did not like about the relationship between Shelby and Chris. I love that they worked out the key to things is keeping an open line of communication.

Shelby is a touch naive, especially for a proposed mystery/detective fan. That is one of the things that makes the series, if she were more savvy there would not be much of a story to the book. She goes back and forth between being rather clever to absolutely clueless. This is definitely a mark of a stay at home mom/housewife only just spreading her wings. The reader really gets to see her growth throughout the series, she is getting quicker on the uptake with each book. I do agree with her husband that she needs a keeper.

The romance between Shelby and Chris is genuine and engaging. I love the idea of a couple who have been married for so long and are still in love. All the potentially hot scenes are closed bedroom. There are plenty of smexy kisses but not much more. This is more about the mystery that the romance.

There are many layers to the mystery this time. It is never hard to follow but it is very involved. Heck the main characters have moments when they forget about the side stories. I do like the continued interactions with Dimples, Ramos and Uncle Joey. Even though Ramos and Uncle Joey are bad guys they are very likable. Not sure how long that will last, they are both murderers after all. As long as they find Shelby charming and useful she will be fine.

The pace of the story is steady, not a fast paced read but not a drag either. The narrator for the audiobook, Wendy Tremont King does a great job of keeping the story moving. She has a really appealing tone that instills energy into the story. Her voice makes Shelby seem real and less of a flake, she manages to make her sincere and sweet. While her male voices are not very deep, they are distinct and separate from the females. It is easy to tell the difference when she is thinking and speaking. The narrator also has an added challenge of making it clear when she is hearing thoughts rather than people speaking to her. Ms King is a real compliment to the book,I love her delivery and really hope she will read the rest of the series.

My fingers are crossed the rest of the series will come out on audio, I hate switching between formats. While I am eager to hear what happens next, I am willing to wait a touch and see if the other books are recorded. If it takes too long I will have to hunt them down in ebook. Ms Helme has created a really interesting read with engaging and dynamic characters, very much along the lines of Stephanie Plum or Kathleen Turner.

This is such a little collection of short stories. They are quick, but hold a nice punch!

Really descriptive and engaging. My favorite was the first story "Geeks Rule". It really sets the tone for the collection. Wonderful story telling all around. Each story has its own little twist to keep the reader on their toes.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Basil Sands, who is also the author. I am not usually for authors reading their own books, unless it is a biography. This is an exception, because the author just happens to be a talented narrator as well. Who better to understand the voices and emotions of his characters. He has a great pace and solid energy throughout. A few voices get a little too high, but that is me nit-picking. I would definitely look for more of his work!

Overall this is a great collection and I hope Mr Sands finds time to create more short stories.

    Story

Such an interesting read. Not your typical YA, this has many religious elements to the story. It does have the Urban Fantasy feel with Christian undertones.

The story moves rather slowly at times. It is almost all from Jacob's POV, with a couple snippets of others. It keeps the reader in the dark about what others are thinking or their motivations. Many times the supporting characters do not give enough hints into what they think and feel.

The romance is light, this is definitely a more male oriented YA read. Not really flowery or girly. There are also plenty of battle type scenes. It is definitely about the battle between good and evil.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Jeffrey Kafer, is wonderful! He has a great deep voice that carries you through the story. He is one of the reasons I stuck with the story, even after it was clear it wasn't exactly to my taste. I loved his read and would really like to try something that is in my wheel house. His pace was terrific and he had an engaging energy in the read.

Overall, this wasn't a read for me, but I can see many audiences it would appeal to, very much. It is more of a Christian YA theme more geared to male readers.

    Story

I wasn't sure what to expect with this book. I was vaguely aware when I started reading that is is a YA. I didn't really know what was coming. I was so pleasantly surprised by this book! What a great read!! I wish there were more like this in the genre!

There is a romance, cause it is YA and of course there has to be a romance. It is a little unconventional though. I was wondering how things would turn out in a story where the girl seemed to be falling for a ghost. I was very happy with the outcome. The author is clever enough to easy you into a transition that makes everyone happy. There are some tricky moments. but I really felt that was the best ending all around.

This whole book is from Zoe's POV, which limits you in how you see things. You only get her side of the story with what happened with Logan when they were younger. I am curious to know his side of things. You only get to know what she knows, which isn't a lot at first.

I loved her snarky humor. She is sassy and awesome and gets even better as she lets people in, no longer using that wit to push others away. She is still snarky and sarcastic, but gentler as well. It was a joy seeing her grow and build relationships with others.

The supporting cast here is fantastic. She has a fabulous gay BFF Carlos, who is diva-licious at times! Her mom is super supportive and a touch protective. And the love interest is beyond sweet and endearing. I wanted to date him myself! Oh, yeah, she has her own personal undead stalker as well.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Tara Millette, who is wonderful. This is my first read from her and I promise not my last. She has the snark down and infuses such emotion into the read. This is one of the most enjoyable reads I have had in a while. Her energy throughout the read and terrific pace only add to the joy of listening. Definitely a narrator to stalk...um watch!

Overall this was a great read. There is the mystery of finding out what happened to Logan, that was a little obvious after hearing the first few clues. Then again, I watch a lot of crime dramas, so what I thought was obvious, others might not see right away. Even with knowing who did it the story telling was engaging and dynamic.

    Story

I really enjoyed this book, but it has been some time since I read the first 4 in the series. This made it tricky trying to remember who is with who. The book starts off with a hot group scene that involves all 9, whoa, that is a lot of smexy to keep track of! A couple names a similar and I was a little confused who was supposed to be with whom.

The story, there was a little here and there, progresses the group from being couples to a great big smexy pile of all in hotness. Oh lordy!! Expect lots of smexy sexing in this book!! Like 80%...maybe more. Uber hot for such a short read!! Have an ice bucket, cold shower and fire brigade on stand-by!!

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Gregory Salinas, who doubles the hot factor!! The man has a delicious voice and when he says all those naughty things...oh girl!! He brings all the deep rich sexiness out in his voice for the men and keeps the women more neutral. Great pace the whole time. He does hit the "T"s a little hard, but that is me getting picky.

I am not sure I can survive all the hotness of the next book! But I am willing to try, where is that number for the fire department again?

This is a quick read but surprisingly well crafted. It has a great story that is well fleshed out. I was easily enthralled from the beginning.

The fantasy elements are interesting, smexy magic toys, oh my!! Plenty of steam here. Mostly solo action with the toys. Loads of voyeurism! Hawt!! Be ready for a cold shower!

The story is a mixed narrative, mostly from the POV of the two leads. It gives plenty of insights into the dynamic of the relationship. It has a nice build to the feelings and made the story really sing. I am not always into fantasy, but this was a great story.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Audrey Lusk, who is delightful! She has a wonderful pace that keeps the story moving along. I love her energy in this read, it makes the story pop. The steamy parts are very well done. She has a real feel for the naughty romances and all their nuances! Yummy narration throughout!

This is a super quirky read!! It had my attention from beginning to end!! Kind of because it jumps around and you really have to be on your toes.

Wade is more of a straight forward guy and when her meets up with Luce sparks fly! They go from one crazy situation to the next, really fast paced action. Maybe a little too fast at times. Always enjoyable!

I adore Luce and all her quirkiness, is she crazy or just eccentric, I sat the latter! She just seems to be one of those gals who always finds trouble or odd situations. I say roll with it! Loved her sass and she was a perfect match for Wade.

Loads of story to keep a gal busy, fantastic lead and supporting characters, really dynamic storytelling and a laugh out loud riot!

The romance isn't really a scorcher but they definitely have a little fire going on! I can not wait to see more, hint hint Mr. Henry...I am expecting a series here!

The narrative is mixed, going between Luce and Wade. It gives you a fair amount of insight into the characters. This does help put the story together. It has some jumpy bits that had me trying to follow what happened.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Valerie Gilbert. who does a great job with the challenging read. Her pace really helps keep eh story moving. I loved her voicing of Luce, plenty of sass to keep her fun. Wade was a little rougher, but very distinct. Overall, I enjoyed the read, there were a couple spots where it was a touch stilted, ala Captain Kirk. But they were not enough for me to be put off the book.

Marc Henry is a new author for me and if his other books are as much fun as this one, I'm sold!

If you are looking for a quick sweet romance, this book is for you. In keeping with the series Gina, one of Ellen's friends, is looking for love. She is recently single, which means she needs a man. Ok, this is about a chick-lit not getting on a soap box.

Love the fun banter between Gina and Chris. Would have been nice to have his POV. Unfortunately, the whole narrative comes from Gina. They do have a very cute dynamic. I also love the camaraderie between all the girls. Sometimes you need a girlfriend to just tell you things straight.

I accidentally read things out of order with this series. Definitely should go in order, each story builds on the others. They are all slightly connected.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Martha Lee, who is lovely. She has a great pace to her read that keeps the story moving. The voices are distinct and consistent throughout. She has just the right level of snarky balanced with maturity. I am definitely going to be looking for more of her works.

I am enjoying these short sweet squeaky clean romances.

Super quick short story. This is about Ellen's friend Rachel, the one with the cute little beagle. Fun little Valentine'd Day blind date tale. Not a lot of depth in the relationship, really just the first blush of something that could be special.

The whole book is from Rachel's POV, which limits how the reader seeing events. You only have her perspective to work from. Fortunately there are plenty of cues that you can pick up on to give you the bigger picture.

It is all sweet, a light flirtation but it never gets to the bedroom stage.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was a very interesting read and entertaining throughout. I loved the inside look into the life of a publicist. I love those aspects of the book. The mixed narrative is fantastic, it gets you into the heads of the characters and adds plenty of insight.

Would you be willing to try another book from Christina George? Why or why not?

Yes, she is a great storyteller. The character of Kate is fantastic. Definitely interested in seeing what happens next for her. The supporting characters were engaging and kept things popping for Kate. I loved the crazy authors she had to deal with.

What about Lisa Cordileone’s performance did you like?

Loved it!! She is a fantastic narrator with plenty of energy and enthusiasm in the read. I loved her pace which kept the story moving right along. I am eager to find more of her work, she gives good voice!

What would have made this romance irresistible?

I wasn't really feeling the romance angle. I thought it worked better as a fiction about a sassy chick in the publishing industry.
