Tessa Von Hellengaard is a real witch. Magical spells aside, she's snarky and selfish, and the other witches in her silent spell coven are fed up with her. Their plan to reform Tessa involves taking away her magic, saddling her with 100 extra pounds, and sending her to a weight loss spa. For good measure they call in Liam Kennedy, a charming and sexy fairy godfather, to teach her some manners. Desperate to regain her magic and determined to shed the weight, Tessa soon realizes that protecting her heart from Liam will prove to be her greatest challenge.

This is a really quirky little read. I found myself liking it despite so many things.

Tessa is a first class brat but somehow you find yourself liking her, she has such spunk! Many times you will want to shake the crap out of her! But in the end she changes her naughty ways.

Liam is sexy and oh so yummy! I'll take a hunky Fairy Godfather any day!!

Sadly this was seriously lacking in the romance. The connection felt superficial and wasn't at all endearing to me. Zero steam factor. There might have been a couple kisses but that is it!

There was a little story here but not much. It is a very light read. I wanted more of everything. It was cuteish but fell flat in my opinion.

I listened to the audio book and was not thrilled with the narrator, Robin Jester Anter. She did a nice job but her accents were splotchy much of the time. It was distracting.

It was enjoyable as long as you do not expect too much.

Jadyn St. James is excited to start her job as game warden in Mudbug, Louisiana, and hopes it is the beginning of a new and improved life. She expected to run across any number of odd occurrences in the small bayou town, but she never thought her life would be in danger within a matter of days. And that’s not even the worst thing. Helena Henry was hell on wheels - both alive and dead - when she resided in Mudbug, and a year in heaven hasn’t improved her one bit. Now, she’s back and has brought trouble with her.

This book takes a turn away from the previous format of this series. This time we are going all cozy and juts a flirtation. I ended up starting this series with the 6th book, so I know this "romance" will be draw out over the next book as well. So, do not go into this looking for a HEA, not yet anyway.

This major change in the format wasn't something I loved. It is one of the reasons the series has lost a star. The other reason is the fat bashing. I am sick of it! It is so very uncalled for, sure Helena isn't helping with her wardrobe, but the catty comments pissed me off. Being a curvy girl, I take offence. It was not needed at all for the story and just made me dislike the lead, who I otherwise loved.

I enjoyed the overall mystery here, it wasn't very solvable, but that wasn't a biggie. I enjoyed the journey. Helena is a riot when she gets into the thick of it and forgets she is dead.

Jadyn and Colt are the main characters this time around. They don't have a romance, more of an animosity/flirtation. Most of the book comes from their POV, but there are also scenes from the supporting cast and the bad guys. Those inside thoughts are no help in identifying the villain.

No hanky panky here, bummer. Can't have steam if there isn't a romance.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Johanna Parker, who is fantastic. I love the gentle roll to her Southern accents, they are light but distinct. The pace is quick enough to keep the reader engaged and her energy is wonderful. Great voices that stayed distinct and consistent.

I am really enjoying this series and I hope future books have less fat shaming. Although, I will say Helena gives it right back! She has enough sass to keep me in a good mood!

Who killed Helena Henry? The shorter list may be who didn’t want her dead. Psychic Raissa Bordeaux thought she’d left her former life behind, hidden away in her eclectic shop in the French Quarter. But when a child is kidnapped and Helena Henry appears, Raissa risks her true identity by offering the police help with the case. New Orleans Detective Zach Blanchard doesn’t believe in psychic hooey and is certain Raissa didn’t get her facts about the case from a crystal ball.

I am still loving this series! This is the third book and this time we get to be front row for Raissa's HEA. I was ready for this after the mystery about her in the end of the last book.

Turns out Raissa is all kinds of awesome!! I am talking seriously cool hacker super spy type fantastic! I think she is my fav heroine so far in the series!

Zach is her match as a yummy detective. Love their banter!! Raissa is a very naughty girl, in all the most fun ways! I had a great time reading their dynamic relationship!

This is a mixed narrative, so you get both the leads POV alternately. There are also bits from the supporting cast and the bad guy.

This is different from most cozy mysteries, it has a large romance quotient and that bedroom door is wide open! Not as much detail as an erotic read, but far from squeaky clean.

The mystery has many levels, it is so strange how everything is so connected. But it is a cozy, so you go with it.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Johanna Parker, who has a wonderful read. She keeps the southern accents light, for the most part. I love the swift pace to her read and the energy she brings to the words. All the voices have been distinct and were consistent throughout the book. She has been a delight throughout the series!

I was a little upset that Hank does not get his own HEA book, but rather a side romance in this book. Boo, he has worked hard to redeem himself and deserved at least a novella.

I had never thought about listening to the dictionary for fun. This is rather like that but with SAT type words. So many wonderful words, not sure they all stuck. I may have to listen a few more times!

I love words, total word nerd here!! This is fabulous fun with unique words that you do not encounter on a regular basis.

You are given the definition for each word and then they are used in example sentences or situations. These were rather fun in their own rights. It was definitely a great way to keep the reader engaged in something that is not typically entertaining.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Jack Chekjian, who was terrific. It is quite a challenging reading a list of words and definitions, while keeping it interesting. He has nice tone that keeps you engaged throughout. I do not recommend one sitting for the listen, but rather doing sections at a time. He has a very pleasing voice and adds energy to the potentially dry material.

I really enjoyed this and might pick up he print version of this just to highlight a few of my favorite words. I can also imagine using this as my own word a day challenge.

Did I mention I love this series!! It is part cozy mystery, part contempo romance and a whole lotta ghostie fun!

Helene cracks me up! She is just so much trouble!

The lead this time is Sabine, who we met in the first book and had a tiny taste of what was to come for her.

I love her sassy attitude. She does annoy a touch with her fake psychic job, although she is more of a counselor to her clients.

Beau is a deliciously hunky PI. He is a perfect match for Sabine! Love their dynamic.

This is a open bedroom door, that means at least one scene with a little steamy detail!! Not your typical cozy at all! It is not a full on smexy erotic read, but it is far from squeaky clean. I loved it!

This is a mixed narrative, that flows nicely. We go between the two leads POV for most of the book, with a few supporting spots thrown in throughout. Gives a much fuller read!

The mystery this time was more predictable, well up until the curve-ball. If you see it coming, you are a whole lot wiser than me! Twists can be fun but this was totally left field!

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Johanna Parker, who is fantastic. I love the gentle roll to her Southern accents, they are light but distinct. The pace is quick enough to keep the reader engaged and her energy is wonderful. Great voices that stayed distinct and consistent.

I am not sure I am the audience for this series. I just can not get into the comic book super hero story lines.

They are nicely written, just not for me. This book picks up where the last left off. It takes up into Regan's head and powers. The mixed narrative goes between her and Gabe. The transitions are clear and smooth and easy to follow.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Bryan Reid, who has a nice read. I generally enjoy his tone and pace. The issue I have as to do with the voice of Regan. It was weird and off, just not to my liking. Other than that it was a good read.

I am sure there are those this series will really appeal to, just not me. It is nice to try something new every now and again. I can appreciate the writing, it was the genre that wasn't for me.

This is book one in the series, setting up the ghost/cozy mystery/contempo romance. It is a really fun read with such quirky and engaging characters. Get ready for an eccentric read!

Maryse is such a great character. She is sassy yet endearing at the same time. You really feel for her situation with the disastrous mother in law ghost. I love her analytical mind and how she tries to apply logic to the chaos.

Luc is yummy, he is a bit of a player and you might find him a bit questionable. I had moments where I felt he wasn't good enough for Maryse. Fortunately, he shows true character later and ends up deserving his spot in his gal's heart.

The romance is ore subtle, not a sweet courtship. There are lots of moments to build the relationship, but it isn't all hearts and flowers. It is also not a squeaky clean romance, it has a touch of steam but not the uber hawt details.

The narrative is mixed between the leads and supporting cast. It is mostly smooth, but there are times it gets jumpy. I love the whole crazy dynamic of the town of Mudbug. Such fun!

The mystery is many layered, which keeps you guessing at times. There were some great curve balls that I never expected. I love a mystery that keeps me on my toes.

I love the dynamic between Susan and Swash. They really are a great example of marriage working. It is nice how she uses him to bounce her theories and he puts up with her investigations.

This wasn't a taxing mystery, but it was very engaging and entertaining. I love seeing things evolve over time with her best friend and the shady boyfriend. I expect that will come up in a later book, it can not end well.

I have always been a fan of John Waters, this just made me love him more! I feel like I want to take a trip down to Maryland and try to see if I can find him on the side of the road. He is just too fab for words!!!

The beginning has John talking about his adventures leading up to the big trip. Great background on his personal hitching adventures. Loved hearing about him and Patty Hearst. I can only imagine the reactions he gets when people realize that he is "The John Waters".

The next section is a riot because John decides to write possible best and worse case scenarios. These are the most bizarre and exaggerated scenes possible. I love that the best case scenarios are so far left of center you might mistake them as bad possibilities. Oh, the peak into Mr Waters' twisted mind.

The actual trip is a bit of a let down after the adventures he had imagined. He spent an awful lot of time on the side of the road begging for a ride. He does have some quality interactions, but he also whines a lot about his predicament. Sorry John, but you were angsty in your desperation.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by the man himself. I love celebrity books read by the celeb, makes me feel like we are having an extended conversation. After so many hours you feel like you are now friends, I totally plan to crash at your house John!! I love his energy and enthusiasm throughout the read.

This is a great cozy mystery/contempo romance. I made the mistake of thinking I could jump into the series with this book. I feel like I have missed a lot. This is definitely not a stand alone or series you should start midway. I definitely need to go back to the beginning and catch up.

The narrative is mixed and moved from the lead characters, supporting characters and the bad guy. This is generally smooth, but there are times it feels jumpy. So many voices giving the POV helps the reader stay on top of things. It cuts down a bit on the mystery, but it does make for a fuller read.

There is a romance here, but it seems to have been building for a bit, again the feeling of missing something arises. I expect I will understand the dynamic when I have read the whole series. It is a fairly clean read, but far from steam free.

I love the supporting cast and expect their stories are in the earlier books. Helena the ghost is a trip!! I love her sass and snarky attitude. She is definitely trouble, but oh so fun at the same time.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Johanna Parker, who has a wonderful read. She keeps the southern accents light, for the most part. I love the swift pace to her read and the energy she brings to the words. All the voices have been distinct and were consistent throughout the book.
