I thought this was a great audio book. I'm so glad I bought it. It's well worth the money (credit), and I'm not even a runner. I run a little on the treadmill, but mainly I ride a road bike and do weight training. It's absolutely incredible what this athlete can do. The dedication, discipline, and physical endurance it takes to run the distances he does is mind-blowing. I have seen a few interviews with him and think he's got a great attitude and personality. A few other people wrote reviews saying that he was bragging and self congratulatory. Well, I was listening for it and didn't hear anything like that, not even once. Jesus, the guy just spoke of his long distance runs with passion. That's what you buy the book for. I don't know what those people were expecting, but if you want a great book by a great athlete, this is it!
I loved this book and Arnold's story. I only wish he would have narrated the whole book. He has such a recognizable accent. Great life story.
I didn't know Bill Maher had a new book coming out, but as soon as I saw it I bought it. I wasn't disappointed. One great thing about this book is that he narrates it himself. It just wouldn't be the same with someone else speaking his words. His delivery is excellent from years of pratice on his show. I was laughing the whole way through this Abook and agreeing with just about everything he said. I live in Japan and don't have to be bombarded with all the political correctness and religious crap going on in the states. When I do go back home to visit, I'm shocked at what America is becoming. Bill hits on so many subjects that we all are fed up with, and he does it with straight forward in your face style. Keep it up Bill. Also, check out his documentary Religulous, it's great. This is a great Abook. It's funny and thought provoking.
I liked Tom`s new book. It's really nothing new, but it takes a lot of info and puts it in one book. I read Tom's Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle and loved it. I would recommend that book as your training manual. BFFM realy gets behind the science of weight loss and weight training. This new book is more of the mental attitude guide for getting a lean muscular body and "keeping it that way for life." I like the fact that Tom explains the # 1 thing is calorie management, plain and simple. He does go on to say that you can eat whatever you want occasionally, but in moderation. And you must be aware of the calories the food contains. Hey, on a few occasions I'm still going to eat pizza and drink beer, but I'm not going to eat the whole pizza and finish off a 6 pack like I used to. Another good point is to not feel guilty about it. Afterwards, get back to being strict on your meals.
Tom reads the intro to this book, and I wish he had read the whole book. Nothing is really wrong with the narrator, I just seem to feel like "TOM" is speaking directly to me when I hear him reading.
